Born: Jan 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda California. Died: April 22, 1994 in New York CIty. He served in the House (1947-1949) and the Senate (1951-1953) and as Vice President (1953-1961). Ran for president as the incumbant Vice President in 1960 and was defeated by John Kennedy in a very close election. Was elected President in 1968 running against Vice President Hubert Humphrey, in a close election. George Wallace also ran that year on a third party ticket and carried a few southern states. Nixon was re-elected in a landslide against George McGovern in 1972 carrying every state except Massachusetts and the city of Washington DC. The Watergate burglary took place in 1972.
