Richard M. Nixon

	Born: Jan 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda California.
	Died: April 22, 1994 in New York CIty.

	He served in the House (1947-1949)
        and the Senate (1951-1953)
	and as Vice President (1953-1961).

	Ran for president as the incumbant Vice President
	in 1960 and was defeated by John Kennedy in 
	a very close election.
	Was elected President in 1968 running against
	Vice President Hubert Humphrey, in a close election.
	George Wallace also ran that year on a third party
	ticket and carried a few southern states.

	Nixon was re-elected in a landslide against
	George McGovern in 1972 carrying every state
	except Massachusetts and the city of Washington DC.
	The Watergate burglary took place in 1972.
	The cover up of this burglary led to Nixon's
 	resignation on Aug. 9, 1974.

	Wife: Patricia Ryan (1912-1993)
