Virta Elva Springer & Verdie Cleveland McCarley

Mom and Dad were married 21 December 1933 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. They were the parents of 9 children, 6 of whom survive. The last years of their lives, they resided in Giles County, Tennessee. They were buried in the Harvey Cemetery, Lauderdale County, Alabama.

Dad was born 20 August 1910, in Lauderdale Co., Alabama, the eldest son of Thomas Vernon McCarley and Jewell Acenath Chandler. He was a farmer all of his life and also worked as a blacksmith and for the County and State highway departments.


This monument to my Great-grandmother, Margaret Snoddy McCarley, is located in the Ingram-Thornton Cemetery in East Lauderdale County, Alabama.
This monument for my grandfather, Thomas Vernon McCarley, is located in the Ingram-Thornton Cemetery in East Lauderdale County, Alabama. Granddad was a farmer and a life-long resident of Lauderdale County, AL.
