Take That in 1994

1994 started with promotional trips around Europe and included Belgium/Germany and France.

Then it was straight back to the UK to rehearse for the Brit Awards where they performed the now famous Beatles Medley and also picked up an award for Best Video for Pray.

There was no time for celebrations though as they rushed off to perform at the San Remo Festival in Italy. They played 2 songs during the show which is almost unheard of for a foreign band and the whole of Italy fell in love with them.

During March they filmed bits for the Everything Changes video and visited Spain and rehearsed for the European Tour which kicked of on 24th of March in Hamburg, Germany.

The tour finished in spectacular style in Finland and it was straight back to London the following day to record Top Of The Pops. A few days break was next before the band flew back to London to record Live and Kicking where over 3,000 fans turned up!!

More promotional duties followed, this time taking in Italy (22-23 April), Switzerland and France.

24th May and it was yet another award. This time Gary picked up 2 Ivor Novello Awards. One for Songwriter of the Year and the other for Best Comtemporary Song for Pray.

June, and it was time for a short visit to Japan. The band were certainly getting more popular over there with 5,000 fans turning up at the hotel! As a thank you, the band organised an impromptu signing in the hotel car park!

Then it was on to Australia for the band's first visit Down Under. The week was spent doing various TV, Radio and magazine interviews and was captured on film by Andi Peters for an O-Zone special. The week ended with the first Australian concert by the band in Sydney's Wonderland.

The dolls of the band were released in the Summer.

July was spent holed up in the studio recording the next TT album and single.

23 July - 24 August was spent rehearsing for the Pops Tour, first at Gary's house, then onto a not so secret location in Sussex, before moving onto the London Arena in Docklands.

August 25 saw the start of the Pops Tour in Glasgow. This was the band's most spectacular show to date. The highlights included the extended Beatles Medley which the band performed on a mini stage at the back of the arena, after walking to the back on a walkway lowered from the ceiling!, an extremely raunchy version of Give Good Feeling and of course who could forget Relight My Fire with Lulu's great introduction, the devil costumes and Howard's bum!

November meant more European promotion for the band. This time for Holland and Italy, where they did a Versace fashion shoot and ended up walking away with loads of new clothes! The MTV Music Awards were held in Berlin this month and the band peformed Sure and picked up yet another award!

At the end of the month it was back to London to perform a special Motown Medley in front of Prince Charles at the Royal Variety Performance, then a week later the band headlined the Concert Of Hope at London's Wembley Arena where they played 50 minutes of the previous tour in front of a sold out crowd including Princess Diana.

A few days later the band again swept the board at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party wining every award they possibly could!
