Shells & Roses Collar

Supplies Needed:

Inner Neck Edge: 18 inches approximately

Approximately 250 yards white #10 crochet cotton 640 white 3mm pearl beads US #9 Steel hook One decroative button for closure of your choice

String pearl beads prior to starting your collar.

Row 1: Ch 166, sl st in 6th ch from hook to make a button loop, sc in each chain. (160 sc, 1 button loop)

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in same st, ch 2, 2 dc in same st. *skip next sc, shell (2dc, ch 2, 2dc in stitch) in next stitch*, repeat to last sc. (80 shells)

Rows 3 and 4: Repeat row 2 twice.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sl st in each dc to the ch-2 space, *sc, draw up 4 beads close to hook, sc in next ch-2 space*, repeat to last ch-2 space. (80, 4 bead loops)

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, hdc in first st, draw up 4 beads close to hook, split beaded loop on row below and sc after first 2 beads, *draw up 4 beads close to hook, split next beaded loop on row below and sc after first two beads*, repeat across collar to last beaded loop, repeat from * to * once more, hdc in last sc. (80, 4 bead loops)

Row 7: Ch 1, turn, hdc in first st, ch 3, sc in first loop, *ch 3, sc in each loop along collar to the last loop*, ch 3, hdc in last hdc.

Rose

Make 16 around edge of collar.

Rnd 1: Ch 7, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 2: Ch 6, 1 dc in ring (this counts as first dc, ch 1), *(ch3, 1 dc) 6 times, end with ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-6. (8 dc, ch-3 spaces)

Rnd 3: Sl st into ch-1 space, ch 1, (sc, 3 dc, sc) in each ch-3 space around, join with a sl st to beg sc. (8 small petals made)

Rnd 4: *Ch 6, sl st between next 2 petals, rep from * around, join with a sl st to bottom of beg ch 6.

Rnd 5: *Working in ch-6 loop, and into first ch-3 loop of of Row 7 of collar, (sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc), this will attatch rose to collar, repeat from * 1 time except go to next ch-6 loop on Rnd 4 and Row 7 of collar, rep (to) in remaining ch-6 loops of rose ONLY, join with a sl st to beginning sc. Fasten off. (8 large petals made)

NOTE: The following directions are to form the remaining roses.

Make a rose through to Rnd 4. Work *(sc, hdc, 2dc) in next ch-6 loop, sl st in center of 4th large petal worked on previous rose, (3 dc, hdc, sc in same ch-6 loop, rep from * in 3rd large petal worked on previous rose), rep instructions for Rnd 5. Fasten off.

Finishing

Join with a sl st to end of Row 7, sl st in outer edge of collar around the inner neck, ending at other edge by beginning of Row 7. Fasten off. Sew button onto collar opposite button loop.
