Changing The Past
Chapter 2: Sold To The Devil

Sonya Blade opened her eyes to stare at the drab, gray ceiling. She tried to sit up, but found herself hancuffed to the cot she was laying on. She tried to remember what happened. She had been with her lover, Eric, and then some guy with a red eye had attacked them. She felt panic seize her. Eric? What happened to Eric? She could imagine over a million things that could’ve happened to her. Then she remembered the man with red eye’s exact words. "Your partner is being executed as we speak." Sonya closed her eyes and felt tears coming. She squeezed her eyes shut. I’m not gonna let this guy see me cry. That’s probably what he wants to see. She heard footsteps walking down the hall, probably to her cell.

Shang Tsung visited unexpectedly. Kano had been sitting in his room, and he just appeared. Shang Tsung looked over the criminal in disgust. He opened a box in his hands and there, nestled in it were dozens of gems. Kano stared at the jewels.

"So will you do it?" Shang Tsung asked. He had come, as expected, to get Kano to have Sonya follow him onto his boat, which would take them to the island where Mortal Kombat would be held.

"I have a better idea. How ‘bout you double that amount, and I’ll give Sonya to you right now."

"What do you mean?" Almost as though on cue, two of Kano’s men walked in. They were holding Sonya Blade, who’s hands were handcuffed behind her back. One of the men shoved her into a chair, holding her down with his hands. She struggled with him, but she was too tired and weak to fight him. Shang Tsung smiled with delight.

"My name is Shang Tsung. My what an excuisite creature you are." He ran his hand along her face. She turned her head away from him, but Kano grabbed her by the chin. He turned her head back so that she was facing him.

"Fuck you ass hole." She whispered angrily. But Shang Tsung ignored her.

"I’ll take her. Bring her to my island and I will pay you twice this amount there." He said to Kano, and then he looked back at Sonya. He ran his hand along her face again, Sonya glared at him but knew there was no point in turning away from him. Kano stood up.

"Good I’ll see ya there." He shook hands with Tsung, and then he was gone. Sonya was staring at him when he looked at her.

"Who are you?" she asked. He remembered that he had gone back in time to the day they met, so naturally she wouldn’t know him.

"I’m Kano. A well-known criminal and the leader of the Black Dragon." He spoke to the guards. "Take the lady back to her room. She’ll need all the sleep she can get." The guard yanked her up off the chair. They carried her back down the hall.
