The Everyday Decorator "The Powder Room"
Yes....this is my powder room, a.k.a. "The Library." This was the one room in my home I wanted to exercise the art of whimsey, yet I wanted it to have a classical look at the same time. The moment I saw this wonderful wallpaper, I knew exactly where it needed to be.
For accessories, I picked up inexpenive $1 or less books, particularly ones with beautiful, worn covers and interesting titles. The lamp on the vanity is a $2 yardsale find. I placed an unexpected item in the room...the plate stand. It was just the right size, and afforded me accessorizing space which I filled with an old pipe, a whiskey flask and shot glasses and an old family photo. My favorite object in the room is the antique suitcase. One of my upcoming projects is to dress-up the plain mirror with moulding. Look under the projects link. Have some fun in your own powder room.
