Cursed Stuart House

My mother decided to move to Florida, from Mississippi, to live nearer my older sister Suzy, who's husband was a popular Orthopedic Surgeon there. My Mom was a divorcee raising her two remaining kids, out of four, alone, so it made sense to go where family was. I was 17 just about to enter my senior year in high school.

We spent several days house hunting, and really felt the pressure to make a decision quickly. My mother talking the move up to co-workers, at the Forest Service office in MS, spurred her on to make a rash decision. She went for a second look at a,pretty, corner house that had an unusually low price. We had all felt a little uneasy on our first look-see of this place. This time as the door opened, the "feel" in that place was so thick you could cut it with a knife. The old man, who was selling the place, greeted us with his extremely elderly and ailing dog by his side. The feel was very depressive and disturbing in nature. I would liken it to if you stepped into a terminally ill, elderly, patients hospital room on their last day of life, and they knew it. There was also a smell. This I can't describe to you too well, you could just tell that it wasn't right.

The old man led us through and explained to us that he was selling due to the fact that his wife and daughter died and the place was too big for him. We left with my mother making plans to purchase the home and agreeing with Mr. Stith on how to proceed. I remember feeling very unsettled, and as I left I peeked into the garage and noticed that all of the storage cabinets had garish portraits painted on them with huge starey eyes. Something felt very wrong.

That night, while bunkering in, at my sister's house. Using my Niece's bedroom....I had a dream that was vivid and extremely real feeling. Mr. Stith's daughter came to me warning me not to let my mother buy this home. She warned that something terrible would happen, and to prove her point she would show me one of her paintings. She showed me a girl, on a beach at night, walking and a lighthouse on the horizon. Kinda tacky, which only added to the disturbing quality of the experience! I tried to call out to my mother, who was in the bed next to me, or even move, but was paralyzed. I watched as she drifted backwards into my Niece's closet and disappeared. She made it clear to me that she felt a connection with me because we were both artists (I am a portrait artist).

At the closing, my sister Suzy and I wandered into the first bedroom, as you turned into the hallway, and as we opened the closet doors, crutches fell out. We noticed that behind them were a few paintings. As we flipped through, I noticed a painting of a girl on the beach, at night, with a lighthouse on a hill on the horizon (bingo!). Mr. Stith walked in and explained that those were his daughter's crutches that she had died of cancer. She had to have two amputations in one of the legs because the first operation didn't get all of the cancer. He was proud of her work and told us that she had also painted the portraits out in the garage on the cabinets. Mother wouldn't hear of not going through with the sale.

Finally, after a long, arduous, drive from Mississippi, with all of our possessions, we moved in. My mother was continuously in pursuit of what would rid the house of "that horrible smell". She even pulled all of the carpeting up and had tile put in. She was also quick to attempt eradicating the haunting, garage cabinet portraits, however, no matter how many coats of paint she would apply, to cover them, the faces would always bleed through! She solved this by removing the doors and replacing them. Our big, fearless, Airedale Terrier, who would always corner and bark at strangers, and who was once caught circling the mailman, growling, each circle getting closer to the mailman was a wimp in this new home. He would frequently burst through the screens of the house to get out, when left inside during the day, and be reluctant to re-enter (seemed frightened). He would often track, with his eyes, things that weren't there and his hackles would go up. We acquired a cat, soon after our move, and Chessie dug a hole in the box springs of my bed, and we would find her there when we would return from outings. She seemed to seek this spot out for safety when we were away. She responded similarly to how Sam, our dog did tracking and showing fright. The humans of the household experienced feelings of being watched, and the effects of that oppressive and depressive atmosphere. I felt, too, that there was something in that environment that caused arguments. We all got along nicely before our move, but there was a distinct change after settling into this place.

Two definitely physical things, that I directly experienced, were after practicing clogging (I was in a group that performed at Disney and the World's Fair), I neatly stacked my 45's and placed them into my closet, then left the room. I returned a few minutes later to find them strewn all over my bed. Another time I found Chessie, the cat, cowering in my mother's closet. This was significant, because my mother never shut this closet door. She thought it was ugly. It was an accordion close, plastic door (Mama said it was tacky). She also never left the light on. She was very careful to not run up a n electrical bill. The cat was shut in with the light on!

I forgot to mention that my other sister Renee moved in with us, shortly after her graduation at the University of Mississippi. Guess which room I let her have, since I got first choice? That's right, the artist daughter's crutches room!! Shortly after getting a load of this new environment, Renee was sitting out, in our side yard brushing Sam (feeling very upset and disturbed by this new place), when she noticed the dog peacefully gazing at something. She looked up to see a beautiful, tall blonde woman, who had just driven up on her bike. She had a radiance about her. Sam would always hit the fence barking at atranger no matter who they were, this wasn't like him. She told my sister "I can tell that you are a child of God in need....Mr. Stith would curse God, in that back yard, and set up a negative energy, but if you have faith.... you will be safe". Renee thanked the woman and quickly ran into the house to get our mother. She wanted mother to meet her, and felt that this woman wasn't your ordinary individual. This woman had a soothing effect on our, usually, barky dog and had unusual knowledge about the past owner's history. Renee was only gone for a second, definitely not long enough for a bike rider to get away, but upon her's and mother's arrival, the woman was completely gone!!! They ran out on the other side of the fence and ran up and down the street in both directions and it was as if she had vanished!! We asked neighbors if they knew who this woman could have been and how she could have had knowledge of the house's previous owner and no one knew her. We did find out that she spoke the truth, though. Mr. Stith would drink heavily and curse God in the back yard. He blamed the house for the deaths of his daughter and wife. He also tried to trade the house , with a neighbor, for a smaller one of less value down the street.

Shortly after this my mother started having strange symptoms. She developed a rash on her face and a cough. She went to several doctors and no one could figure out what it was. She also developed weakened ligaments and broke her wrist and sprained her ankle. Her fingers would become infected and drip blood (gross but true). She was in this condition when she helped make the drive, with my sisters, to take me to college in Mississippi (long drive). I was stupid and young, and didn't think about what I was putting my mother through with that long trip. My mother wanted to go, though. She, by this time, realized that something was wrong with the home, and wanted to look for real estate in Mississippi. We went house hunting with no results and my family deposited me at school. After a couple of weeks, in school, my sisters called me to tell me that they were taking Mama to the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester Minn., to try to find out what this mysterious disease was that was plaguing her. My next update was "get here quickly! They don't expect Mama to make it through the week! I flew there and my mother died, after a week long, painful and tortuous battle hooked to life support. All the while she kept scrawling a note "Sell the House!" The doctors called her illness Polymyocytus which is in the Lupus family.

I went back to college and my poor sister Renee went home to Stuart to live in that house alone and to try to sell it. She was a teacher by now, teaching French and Spanish to high school kids. Things got worse upon her return as if my mother's death fueled whatever was there with new and stronger energy. Renee would hear scratching, at night, out in our back yard and would see floating green lights. The dog was terrified and he would stare out the back porch and make a high pitched whine with hackles up. While sleeping Renee was plagued by dreams of my mother's coffin falling out of the hearse and it would open and my mother would tell her to come get her, that she wasn't dead. She would also feel as if something levitated her, on many nights. She would start saying the Lord's prayer and it would stop. It got worse and worse until one night she felt levitated and felt as if two entities were fighting over her and trying to take over her body. She felt the struggle and heard a growling, it then threw her face down in her doorway.

I forgot to mention shortly after my mother died my sisters called Mr. Stith to tell him of my Mom's death and he started crying. He said that he blamed himself for her death, that he felt that the house killed his wife and child and that he believed it would kill him too if he hadn't moved. He felt guilty for not warning us.

Renee finally found a buyer for our house. It was the doctor who gave Aids to his patients, Dr.Acker the dentist. He bought the home for his parents, and during all of the controversy of their son's shameful actions, his Dad shot himself, in the head, in the house's back yard.

That summer, after the house sold, I was home from college and working at a racket ball center, and was running through this story like the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner and the director there, who had always told us she was psychic, got huge eyes and grabbed me by the hand to tug me into her office. She started telling me about seeing a fluorescent orange cross on the floor of one of the rooms (this was in fact there, in the artist daughter's room where her easel sat and made a mark on the floor). She said that she felt someone was burned in the vicinity of the garage and whatever was there didn't want us there. She told me to never go back there. I never will, but would love for someone to investigate and to give me some answers.

Part 2
of Lacey's Story

Chris and I went to Stuart, and it was very productive. Chris taped all three of us sisters telling the story, of our haunted house, from our individual perspectives, then we took her there. We couldn't get up to the house very easily, because it's present family was out in the yard, so I took her to the nature preserve that is on the street behind it. There were some men out working on pruning shrubbery and trees that had been damaged by the hurricane, and I decided to take a chance and speak to one of them. He told me that he lived in the house that directly connected lots with the back side of 624 Alamanda Way. I told him that I used to live there and (trying to not debate with a possible skeptic) felt him out for if he was offended by ghost talk or not. He told me "you know that house has a history.....", then he launched into a story about the night that Dr.Acker's father shot himself. He said that he heard a loud bang and ran to his son's room to see if something fell or could have made that same noise(it was loud). His son was still asleep, so he returned to bed.

In the morning, Mr. Acker's son came over and told him "I just wanted to tell you that my Dad killed himself last night." He said that his Mom and Dad went to bed and in the middle of the night his father left the bed, and never returned. His mother called the police, who then scanned the neighborhood.

After finding nothing, they decided to scope the yard and found him against the fence, that was right behind the neighbor's baby's room. He was laying against the fence, that my sister put in to keep our Airedale, Sam, in the yard. Mr. Acker had shot himself in the head. Mrs. Acker told the neighbors that during the night she had a vivid dream that "something" was trying to get into the fence's side gate to "harm" her husband.

The next big piece of info, that we got, is that the house had an amazing turn over rate since my family moved out. Chris looked this up and I have a list of the owners and the length of time that they endured their stay before moving. The informant neighbor told us that the recent family, living there, had had a blessing done on the house that utilized mirrors, and that the present owners had the house recently on the market, but took it off due to financial reasons. I will try to call one of the former owners and see what happened with them.
The pieces are slow coming together,

My Stranahan Ghost Tour

I went on a Stranahan House Ghost Tour, Wednesday, October 20th, 2004. The tour group that we had apparently good vibes. There was alot of activity. 4 people that brought Digital Cameras got orbs. They showed the rest of us what they picked up. I, myself was the first one to mention the smell of something sweet. Outside at the back of the house in the front parlor (living room), where they have an reinactment of a early 1900's Funeral. It was dark and I had a flash in my mind's eye of 2 women there in long dresses. One sitting down, and one looking out the windo towards the river. Well,so-later on, the tour guide said that Ivy Cromartie Stranahan's sister (Pink), had come to stay there at some point in time. People had been touched. My friend and I (upon leaving), looked at Ivy's northside bedroom window and say a woman's face, but when I walked up to look closer. It was gone. I walked back to the car. Looked up again, it was there again. Her face was looming in and out of the window. My friend saw this also. My Friend's cell phone went off by itself when the whole thing had been shut down, due to the tours was over. When I was on Atlantic Blvd, I saw the bottom portion of a woman's body. It was see through and had a long skirt, long sleeves and ankle lace up boots. It walked right in front of my car!!! I had to slam on the brakes to advoid hittng the person that I thought was there. When I got back to my house, I pulled out a bag of chips. I was in the other room, when I heard, "Crunch, Krinkle, Krinkle". I went back out, the bag had been moved. I swear!! Also, On Friday, October 22nd, my cd player went on by itself, playing the cd that was in there. This Happened more than once, but the weird thing about it is that it did not play the first song on the cd. It would play different songs from the middle and then the end part of the cd. I know that these accounts have created a long letter, But they are all TRUE ACCOUNTS.
Thanks, Sherrel

If you find Maggie?

The Olde Towne Chop House has been gone for several years, but it was my favorite restaurant, with high wooden booths, a piano player and bar. I believe it was on the corner of SW 2nd Ave. and West Las Olas Blvd.,Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Just west of the railroad tracks. Up the street along the tracks was a micro brewery that was new at that time. One night my husband and I were eating at the Chop House and it was pretty late, only one or two other couples were still there. I went to the Ladies Room, which had a photograph on the wall as you entered, of a woman standing with her old fashioned bicycle (1800's). She had such piercing eyes, it was mesmerizing, but creepy at the same time. The whole restaurant had photographs on the walls of pictures of the building, inside views, from different eras. One showed the building when it was a butcher shop, one as a bank, etc. I went into a bathroom stall and could hear soft crying and sighing from one of the other stalls. I figured someone had had a fight and was upset. I pondered whether I should say something comforting or just mind my own business. The poor thing sounded so miserable. I washed my hands, brushed my hair and put on lipstick and I could still tell that she was there. You can just sense that you are not in the room alone. I decided to see if I could help, so I pushed in the open stall doors, none were locked, and NO ONE WAS IN THE BATHROOM BUT ME!. I couldn't believe it. I know I didn't hear anyone get up or leave a stall and I know I didn't hear the door open or close. The hair on my arms was standing up. I went back to our booth and told my husband that I had just had the strangest thing happen. He just laughed it off and said I had too much wine, but I was completely sober. I told my husband I was going to mention it to our waiter, but he said he will think you are crazy. I did tell the waiter what I had experienced and he said, "Oh you just met Maggie, our ghost. Sometimes a very sensitive person will encounter her.". He went on to tell us that the building had been used for many things, once it was a brothal and one of the girls had been shot. I am quite sure "Maggie" was the name of the girl who was killed. He went on to tell us that some of the restaurant staff wouldn't come in alone to clean the kitchen because they had done so and heard the bathroom door slam. When they investigated, there was no one in the bathroom. They even locked the door from the inside. but still heard the bathroom door open and close.
If you find Maggie, give her my best!

A Father's Visit

I have had a first hand experience with a ghost. It was a ghost that was part of my family. My father died when I was seven years old. At the age of 10, he came and paid me a visit. I was in great distress and I think it happened because he was trying to let me know that he would always be around to take care of me. I was in my room sitting on the side of my bed and he came and sat down beside me and talked to me. I know it really happened because my mother saw him sitting next to me and screamed. He left an indention in the bedspread where he had been sitting. I was not scared at the time, but instead I felt great peace and contentment. Although he has never came to me again, when I am in great distress I go and sit by his grave and talk to him. I can get immediate relief from my distress by doing this.
I truly believe that even though he died in 1957, he still looks over me.

Sally's Story

Here is my TRUE story - I am a normal, business person, mother of 3, living in Boca Raton, and very much at peace with myself. I am not a "nut" - just an average female. When I lived in Estada, in Boca Raton, with my children, I was at an event at the Marriott, where a nicely dressed, very fine Englishman, approached me and said he was sent to me to bring me to a higher level. If he wasn't so elegant looking, I would have been frightened and not believed him and ran, real quickly, away (I have our conversation on tape). He knew things about my deceased grandmother and other things, but the bottom line is, he taught me how to see spirits. He told me to look for the Golden Orb, which I still don't know exactly what that is. I practiced, everyday, and nothing happened, which I, naturally, did not expect to happen. (I can tell you later, if we ever speak, the method) All of a sudden, one night, while sleeping, the most terrifying thing happened. A handsome man was staring at me at the foot of my bed. I turned on the light, he vanished, and I could not stop shaking. Every night, thereafter, he appeared or an older man appeared and I was so afraid, that I slept with the light on and was so afraid to go to sleep, every night. This went on for approximately one year. The bottom line of all this is, just to shorten the story (details later, if you desire), my best friend moved into my house - did not know about this - told me the next morning, after her first night in my home, that an older man (described him, exactly) appeared in her room during the night. My daughter, was also awakened by the same person at another time, and totally freaked-out. Another incident - I brought a date into my home, one evening. We spent part of the night, in my room, upstairs, just to talk. He knew nothing of this. I went downstairs for something, and when I went back upstairs, he asked me to whom was I talking - he heard voices, loud and clear. I never spoke - there was no one in my house. When I told him what had been going on in the house, he told me that he was never a believer in ghosts, but definitely, for sure, believes after that experience, and could not wait to get out of there. One last, very important, occurence. I finally said, out loud, prove to me that this is real. Give me some clue, so I can really believe it. By the way, after that I never saw them again. That evening, I went to a club in Boca, alone. When I walked in, I promise this is true, I saw, at the bar, a man dressed exactly like the handsome ghost, and looked exactly like him. He was a real person that I spent the evening with, just talking. I never told him about the ghosts. That was truly proof, to me. I would love to get some feedback, from you. Has anyone mentioned a similar story? This really happened. I have since moved and always wondered if the new owner had any experiences. I almost felt guilty selling him such a haunted house. Also, I wonder why these ghosts decided to visit me. No one had ever died there. I bought the house from the original owner.
Thanks for listening.

Somewhere in Colorado
From "bobcat"

I believe in ghosts!  In 1996, we moved out of our old office building/warehouse into a larger facility.  For the two years we were in our old building, it was haunted by a red-haired young man who wore a red and white t-shirt and bluejeans.  He would just stand around, tap people on the shoulder or top of the head once in a while - but caused no harm.  He would pick on vendors and employees alike!  He was a prankster, but nor malicious ... He had a favorite person to pick on - the lady who opened up at 6 a.m.!  She stopped coming in early, when he accompanied her to the ladies room ... and chuckled at her from outside the toilet stall.  Scared her to death!!!  He was always shutting off her radio, and PC and heater.  He never bothered anyone else ... just teased her.  Once, when we were pressed for time to finish a big research project, he just would not allow her to use anything electrical.  I told him out loud, in my frustration, if he did not stop interfering with our equipment, I was going to call in a priest to do an exorcism!  Everything immediately came on, and stayed on. When we moved, we told him he could not come with us ... but that another of our company departments would soon be moving in and he would probably enjoy them, as they were young men about his age.   He stood around and watched us move out, sometimes playing an invisible stereo in one corner of the warehouse.  He would stand so close to two of my people, just watching, that they would actually apologize to him if they almost bumped into him! The maintenance man for the facility had been there 20+ years and did not know of anyone resembling the description of our ghost. To the best of his knowledge, no one had died there.  After we moved out, the red-headed ghost also left.  No one else ever experienced him.

The Dog
From MoonShade

Hello all, I wanted to share my ghost story with you... I am moving to a new appartment at the end of this week, but I've been cleaning and preparing it to receive my future husband and me. When we first came in, we did not feel anything particular with the place. But it's on our second visit that we felt that horrible fear... We have a big closet in the dining room and that is were we felt it more... This horrible, cold, fear! I knew right away that a dog had been beaten badly for most of its life and its owner would put him in the closet so it would not bother him. The dog died in the closet... For the next few visits, we would feel this fear and also some anger, after a little while, join the first sentiment... My fiancé went to clean the appartment last week and he befriended the dog... The fearis gone, I don't feel it anymore. It more peaceful in the appartmentnow. My fiancé told me that the dog seem to know that it is dead... We don't have a name for it yet, and I wonder if the dog could "tell"us its name? Now I know it's not much of a story right now, but I'm sure I'll have more details when we move in. I have two cats and I'm pretty surethat the dog will have alot of fun with them... I just hope my cats wont be too afraid... I want to learn more about spririts, ghosts, "energy residue"... I know that my grand-father check on me from time to time, he makesme feel more secure in hard times... He will come while I'm sleepingand I will wake up when he caresses my cheek. I will open my eyes tosee him watching over me. Other times, I just know he is there, near me. He shows up when I'm in ritual or fire scrying! He smiles at meto let me know that he is happy for me... Well, that is it for now. If you have any thoughts about my experiences, please feel free to talk to me about them. Sharing thoughts is what makes us learn more and understand more...

My Best Friends Dog Ghost

I'm repeating here what my friend wrote, she had an unusually close relationship with her small lap dog Starla Trek who died recently at the vets.I'll copy this as written - with her permission.  Comments would be appreciated.  I don't know if this is a goodby to her owner or if she is in sprit going to stay with her. Story as written to me: Something unusual happened.  Right at 2 PM which is the time I let Starla and Shawna out to chase their food, while I toss it to one end of the patio then the other - something Starla absolutely loved to do) there was a good big Black Butterfly with a pretty Blue splotch on a back wing that tried desperately to get in the patio doors. It stayed for a long time. So Shawna had to wait to go out, I'd never seen one like it before.  I looked through the nearly 300 butterflies in that CDR I have and didn't see one like it.  Another unusual thing that happened - while the man was here cleaning the carpets and he got to my bedroom, mom and I Both heard a little dog barking in my bedroom.  Starla never liked it when someone she didn't know went into "her" room.  She'd got very protective.  And one day, on three occasions, I was sure I felt Starla shifting her position laying on my feet. (Rita has Rheumatoid Arthritis bad and Starla was her constant companion spending most of her time either in Rita's lap or at her feet.)

Farmersville Haunted House
There are a couple of stories about that house, that I feel are all tied together somehow, but I will try to be brief.
The house is a rental property approx. 7 miles from the frontage road, taking the Divernon exit off I55 South.  It sits sideways off the road, near a grainery. I'm not sure how old the house is, but I would guess around 60 years if not a bit more.  It is a 2 bedroom house, with two front entrances(??), and one back entrance. None of the house was carpeted except for the small laundry room off the kitchen, and it has a partial basement.  The bedrooms, hallway and "two" front rooms had hardwood floors. (the "two" rooms were actually one big room with just a slight step up to divide them, and another step to the left to the hallway. . .weird house).
My ex-fiancee grew up in that house, until his family got to be too big, and his parents moved to town.  When the house became available after he graduated high school, he rented it and lived there for quite awhile.  I moved in Oct. 1992, he worked days M-F and was on the Volunteer Fire Dept.;I worked retail (day or nites) with days off during the week, so I had to be there alone a lot. I have to say, I never liked the house, it was much too remote for me, and I didn't know anyone in the town besides my fiancee's family.
About a week after I moved in, I was there alone around 4:30 in the afternoon, walking thru the kitchen to the living room, when I heard thistremendous crash from the basement (right under my feet)which sounded to me like a bunch of empty paint cans had crashed to the cement floor.  My first thought was rats, the second was racoons, etc.  Nonetheless, it scared the heck out of me.  I waited for him to come home and made him go down and look even though he didn't believe me.  He told me there was no way an animal could get into the basement, and that it had a dirt floor, and there were no empty paint cans or anything of the sort.  He came back up, shaking his head, saying that nothing was out of place down there and that I must have been hearing things.  Considering the fact that I jumped about a foot in the air when it happened, I certainly did hear something!
The second time it happened, it was worse--I was in the living room, carrying a basket of clothes into the bedroom.  I heard it, turned to look toward the kitchen (the basement ended before the part of the living room I was in), and dismissed it as maybe pipes making (a LOT of)noise or something.  I continued on to the bedroom, and had no more than stepped up into the hallway, when suddenly, there was a rush of air behind my right ankle, and I heard and felt something STOMP on the floor behind my foot--I mean the floor shook! I stood there for awhile, waiting for something else to happen, but nothing did, and I dropped the basket on the bed, and went outside to wait for him to come home.  It always seemed like things happened about half an hour or so before he would come home, like whatever it was, was impatient for him to come back.  He began drinking heavily, and our relationship fell apart; I resented him for the way he treated me but was afraid to leave.
For Christmas that year, his younger brothers (twins,17 years old) got a Ouija board, and after dinner, all the brothers and sisters (ages 22-13) decided to come out to our house--bringing the board with them.  His youngest sister (13), and one of the twins (and the youngest brother (15)too, I think) took the board into the spare bedroom, and were trying to contact their grandfather.  I went in at one point to see how it was going. They said that the board kept saying they were talking to a little boy named Lee who kept talking about a fire. If memory serves me correctly (and it may not!) he kept trying to spell the word "friend".  I left the room, not liking having the board in the house. Finally, they gave up, and came into the living room where the rest of us were, and told my ex (who was 26 at the time) about what the "boy" had said.  He told them that when he lived in the house at about 6, he had a best friend named Lee who rode the bus to school with him, and played there a lot--I think he died of something else, but very young, before they moved into town; however, my ex's dad had been on the VFD when they lived there, and Lee's house did catch fire (whether anyone died is beyond me), in fact, my ex's dad had taken the telephone from the house which had melted into a mishappen glob of plastic, and for some reason gave it to my ex, who kept it in the shed behind our house! Not long after that, he began to drink even more, and threatened to kill his ex wife. . .telling me exactly how he planned to do it--I told him I was going to leave him one night when we were in bed, and he told me that if I left, he would "hunt me down and find me" whatever that was supposed to mean.
That night, as he lay snoring next to me and I lay wide awake wondering if I could sneak out and run away, it felt as if a hand closed over my throat (he was sleeping with his back to me, I could tell it wasn't him), and I couldn't breathe or move for what felt like a long time, but couldn't really have been.  Other than that, the only things I remember happening were doors opening once in awhile, but I didn't stay for long; I did end up running away one day. . .and even though he has since sobered, and apologized and moved out of state, I wouldn't go back to that house if you paid me--I don't think Lee likes me very much because of my resentment toward my ex, his  best friend forever!!

The New Wife

I've felt ghosts a couple times - we have one in the house - I believe it to be Mikes great grandmother. When we first moved in (this is a 1966 double wide manufactured home but 2 relatives died of natural causes - old age 98 and cancer) in the home. I didn't know when I married & we later moved in here that Mikes great grandmother died in what I call my horse room (model horses) and I was unpacking late at night and suddenly got this ICY feeling as though the air went frigid on me and a negative feeling that felt like GET OUT and I did - I didn't go in there late at night for a long time, as in months or year or so. I felt like she watched me of on and didn't approve of me, I felt she came up to the bed once and looked from the doorway more than once and another time I felt her staring at me in the livingroom. I talked to Mike and that is when he told me she had died in that room. He thought I was totally nuts but I got him to talk to her in the room during daylight and she quit bothering me. You see he and his first wife took care of her for a time about a year before she died. When we moved in I was the "wrong" wife. AFter he talked to her it settled down and in the 10 years I've only had to have him talk to her one other time. I do sometimes go in there late at night but I just say sorry for bothering you when I come in and no problems. Also for awhile, we had a ghost cat. You could feel it jump on the bed (I could) walk up between our bodies and lay down. You couldn't see nor touch it but it was a cat you could feel its feet. I was scared for awhile but I finally realized it happened when i was very upset over things and it came to comfort me after that i had no more fear. Figure was grandmas pet cat who died on the property of old age. My other ghost story is our cabin in the mts we leased for 18 years. About a year before we lost the lease some people went into the meadow about 125 yards away and we thought was a church group out for the view - didn't bother them. Later walked over and there were ashes it was a funeral, the flowers left there to - so whoever it is could enjoy the view of the Mill Creek Watershed. The next spring I think it was we moved up and I was staying 5 weeks the weeks alone (22 miles from town and a long ways from any neighbors on unimproved road) anyway I felt like there was a very negative presence in the cabin and that it wanted me gone. Scared me at first, could feel the negative. It dawned on me maybe over the winter it had moved into the cabin. After about 2 days and feeling the negativity, esp at night as though being GLARED at all the time, uneasy. I spoke to the ghost and said "I am staying here for 5 weeks, we have had this cabin for 17 years and we need to get along as I am staying 5 weeks either way. I didn't have any more problems nor negative feelings and the next year we went back and no problems. Speaking to it seemed to help, to explain it was not a trespass but we belonged. When we moved out permanently I told the ghost that it was now their cabin and to please take care of it.

Rehoboth,Massachusetts haunted house
Incorporated in June of 1645, Rehoboth is one of the oldest towns around, and very much haunted too. Rehoboth is a small town in Massachusetts, there are no commercial businesses around here, you must travel out of town for them. The only main attraction we have in this town is Cumberland Farms, and a Dunkin Donuts.
Mostly all of the houses in Rehoboth date back to the early 1700s. Mine for example was built by Isaac Wheeler in 1729. I believe that my house is haunted and the surrounding fields. At night sometimes I can hear foot steps upstairs in the hallway. My bedroom door will be shut when I never shut it. I sometimes hear a voice of someone calling my name (this just started to happen recently too) and this usualy happens about maybe twice a week. I look around to see who is calling me and there is no one there. My dog will get really scared at times, and we'll come home from being out and she'll be in the bathroom in the corner shivering, and thats at the other end of the house! and she never goes in the bathroom. My mother has told me that at times she feels something like a hand glide across her face. At night when I go outside I feel the sense that something is watching me from the woods or the field. The house in front of me across the field was built in the 1700s and so was the one in back of me. Well now that I got the stories of my house out of the way, let me tell you about some of the happenings in the town.
Hortons Signal was the place that the Soldiers of the Revolutionary War (that were from my town) would stand and look out to Bristol, Providence....all the surrounding areas and watch for British Troops. Some say that they can hear the voices of men sometimes, when no one is even there. Redway Plain was the field that the Soldiers of the Continental Army and Militia would Practice. Some say that they can see things in the field, and than they will disappear. Hornbine school is a one room school house. People have said there hear talking going on in the school like there is a class and they look in the window and there is nobody in there. Red Headed phantom is of a man who walks route 44 late at night and goes into the cars of passer by's. Bad Luck pond is said that if you swim in the pond you will have bad luck. Anawan rock is the location where Cheif Anawan was killed by British troops in King Phillips war in the 1600s. People say that sometimes at night they can see like a fire at the top of the rock, or the screams and shouts of the Indians and the Troops. Palmer River's Cemetery (dated back to the 1600s) is said to have a little boy that runs around the cemetery like hes playing, and he is wearing 18th century clothing. Old Anawan Road is where you can hear the sounds of people and Horse and carriage. Well there are many many more stories about Rehoboth, but that I just told you is just a few of the many.

Denwood forest & the Jade ring
The only ghost experience that I can remember having happened when I was 4 years old. I was sitting in the living room watching a tape when something came around the corner of the wall. I turned to look and there was a womans hand coming around the corner of the wall. It didn't do anything, only waved along the wall for a few moments then slid away. Her hand was a tannish color with spots on it and she was wearing a jade ring. I went around the corner but no one was there and I assumed it was my mother playing a trick on me(Even though I knew her hand didn't look like that nor did she own a jade ring). I went to find her, she was upstaires in my parents bedroom. I asked her why she tried to scare me and she didn't know what I was talking about. I don't know what that hand was but I know that something happened.
