Changes Coming My
Way
Just as
seasons come and go, I felt it was time to leave my teaching position
of 10 years. I applied at another school and was hired. I was hired
in May although I had no idea what teaching postion I would fill. I
was told by the principal, the decision would be made after school
was out for the summer.
I waited
almost two weeks after school was out before I called my new
principal. I couldn't stand not knowing and also I was very excited.
He said I would be teaching at a new program called At-Risk. I will
be teaching grades 6, 7, and 8. I will teach Social Studies, Language
Arts, and Science. I am really excited and I cannot wait for school
to start back!
July 12 -
16, 1999 the principal wants me to take the ropes course. So I will
return after this course.
The Ropes
Course has been successfully completed. I survived!!!! Please
check out what I have to say concerning the
Ropes
Course.
I went by the school to talk with
my new principal on July 21, 1999. I told him about the Ropes Course. We are thinking of using
this course with the new program he is starting, the At-Risk Program. He showed me the schedule for
this coming school year. I now know what I am teaching. I will be in the At-Risk Program and I will
teach 8th Grade GA History, 8th Grade Science, 6th Grade Social Studies, 6th Grade Language Arts,
and 7th Grade Social Studies. I am rather excited about starting school this year. I cannot wait for
school to start.
My new principal is sending me
to another week long class. But this time it is concerning technology. I will receive five new computers
for my students after completing this class. The class starts July 26, 1999 and will last only 5 days.
I shall return when I complete this class.
Today is July 31, 1999. I absolutely
loved the computer class. I found out it will be a total of 7 days. The last two days will be in October
and one day in November. The class is called InTech.
The InTech
has been a wonderful experience. It will change the way I teach. I am very fortunate to be one of
twelve teachers from my school to be involved in
InTech.
