The Picture Gallery

We will be adding pictures that pertain to historical interests in SouthCentral New Mexico as we take them...in the meantime, here are some photos of the area in general.  Please do check back..we will have the Lincoln County Courthouse, where Billy the Kid made his "last" escape, along with photos of the town of Lincoln (so you can see how inaccurate the movies really are), White Oaks, White Sands, Cloudcroft, Hondo Valley, etc....places you've probably never heard of unless you are a history buff!  Irregardless it's beautiful country so worth coming back for!

Hale Lake, located a few miles East of Ruidoso Downs,
sits atop a "hill" that I'm sorry to say I do not know the name of.
Whoever named the lake must have had a great sense of
humor...did you find it yet?  Keep looking.  It's that small oval
shaped brown thing.  The Hale's played a big role in the early
1900's development of the area.

Taken from the same "hill" that Hale Lake sits upon, this is another view of Sierra Blanca.....I really thought the tree was cool : ).
A sunset at White Sands National Monument.
Although the photo didn't scan well enough to show, the white located along the bottom is pure white gypsum.  There are hundreds of square miles of sand dunes sitting in the middle of nowhere. White Sands, located near Alamogordo, NM, and Holloman AFB, is a popular tourist stop, a great place to ditch school, and a photgraphers delight.  Legendary Pat Garrett met his end while traveling through White Sands.
