Golden Age Weaponsmiths HMMWV

The High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) are also known as a Hummer or HumVee. These vehicles were replacements for older Jeep styles and served in military setting until the later part of the twenty-first century. These vehicles were used for an incredible number of jobs in the United States Army, Marines, and Air Force and were incredibly common. HumVees were built for the roles of cargo/troop carrier, armament carrier, TOW missile system carrier, shelter carrier, two ambulance variants (2- and 4-litter), and stinger missile vehicle. There were even civilian models of the Hummer built that while expensive were also very popular because of their capabilities and toughness. Because of the vehicles popularity, a larger number of them survived the coming of the Rifts than any other military vehicle in North America.

In many ways, the refitting of Hummers was how Golden Age Weaponsmiths got their business started in the first place. Many mercenaries recovered the HumVees and wanted them refitted with mega damage armors. The vehicles became so popular that Golden Age Weaponsmiths started building them in their automobile factories. Presently, Golden Age Weaponsmiths both rebuilds Pre-Rifts HMMWV and manufactures new ones.

The Hummers were built with a wider wheel base than previous jeep style vehicles and can traverse terrain that normal jeeps and sports utility vehicles. The Hummer is equipped with a high performance diesel engine, and automatic transmission, and four wheel drive. The HumVee is air transportable and can be from a variety of aircraft. The HMMWV can also be equipped with a self-recovery winch capable of up to 6000 pound pull capacity and the vehicle can support payloads of up to 4,400 pounds depending on the model. The vehicle can ford up to 2.5 feet (0.76 meters) without preparations and up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) with a deep water fording kit. The vehicles can climb 60% slopes and traverse a side slope of up to 40% fully loaded.

Up to one weapon mount may be fitted on the Hummer.
