REEF-APT-2 TANK CARRIER:

The REEF took the design of the APT Tank Carrier from the Southern Cross Armies and made several important modifications to the design including power systems, weapons, armor, and even backup systems. The vehicle is the main infantry support vehicle for the REEF and is tasked with both transporting troops to the battlefield and supporting them once they have entered the combat zone. Originally, the REEF operated the Iron Maiden APC-10 but these have been replaced in service. Along with using the vehicle themselves, The REEF sells a modified version of the combat transport to mercenaries and other governments. The outside sales are a useful sideline but are not pursued strongly and no models other than nuclear powered are available. Many mercenary companies prefer non nuclear powered versions because they are much less expensive. The vehicle is well designed to carry troops. Both the crew compartment and personnel bay are airtight and reinforced. Two additional hatches are located toward the rear on either side, and two on the top.

The engine was replaced by a fusion reactor simply because the designers expected that the vehicle would have to operate with minimal support and removing the need to be refueled greatly reduced the amount of support that would be needed. The armor on the vehicle was improved so it could withstand more abuse. Virtually all areas have been strengthened including the treads and the vehicle can withstand more abuse than the Iron Maiden APC. Weapons have been similarly upgraded. The autocannon has been replaced by a powerful rail gun which while it has a slow rate of fire is very powerful. The rail gun is a modified version of the Shemarrian Rail Gun. This rail gun is not carried in the sales version and a modified NG-202 Rail Gun is carried instead. The grenade launcher is replaced with the WI-GL21 Automatic Grenade Launcher. Bursts from the grenade launcher can be very effective against troops and other vehicles. Two large capacity mini-missiles launchers complete the weapons layout. The launchers can be jettisoned as needed. Several designers have proposed developing other missile launchers such as medium and short range but the REEF's senior officers feel that other vehicles fulfill those roles adequately.

The vehicle also has a periscope that can be raised up to 25 feet (7.6 m) above ground level which allows the crew to look over obstacles without becoming visible.

Model Type: REEF-APT-02
Vehicle Type: Military Combat Transport
Crew: Three (Driver, Gunner, and Missile Operator) with room for two others in the crew compartment.
Troop Carrying Capacity: 20 soldiers in full gear (Two squads), can carry 32 people in emergency conditions but people will be in no condition to fight after being dropped off.

M.D.C. by Location:
[1] Tractor Treads (2):100 each
Weapon Turret:150
Mini-Missile Launcher (2):80 each
Searchlight:20
Headlight:10
Main Hatch:200
Small Hatches (6):125 each
Reinforced Crew Compartment:100
Reinforced Personnel Bay:100
[2] Main Body:500

Notes:
[1] Depleting the M.D.C. of a tread will immobilize the tank until it is replaced. Replacing a tread will take 1D6x10 minutes by a trained crew (2 replacements are carried on board) or three times as long by the inexperienced. Changing the tread is only advisable when the vehicle is not under attack.
[2] If all the M.D.C. of the main body is depleted, the vehicle is completely shut down and unsalvageable, but crew and troops may survive in their reinforced compartments.

Speed:
Ground: Cruising speed on land is 50 mph (80 kph), 75 mph ( 121 kph) maximum;
On water: 10 mph (16 kph) on water. No special maneuver are possible in the water
Maximum Range: Effectively Unlimited (Nuclear Fusion power supply with 20 year duration)

Statistical Data:
Height: 14 feet (4.3 meters) without mini missile launchers. 16 feet (4.9 meters) with mini-missile launchers.
Width: 16 feet (4.9 meters)
Length: 34 feet (10.4 meters)
Weight: 49 tons (44.5 metric tons)
Power Source: Nuclear, Should have an average lifespan of 20 years.
Cargo Capacity: Up to 30 tons. This can be carried internally in place of the troops (within space limitations) or towed.
Black Market Cost: Sales version sells for 18 million credits. The REEF's version if found it would probably be worth 22 million for a new, undamaged, and fully operation vehicle complete with missiles and Shemarrian Rail Gun

Weapon Systems

  1. Heavy Rail Gun: Replaces Snub-Nosed Cannon. The turret can angle 45 degrees up and down and has 360 degree rotation. It is basically a copy of the Shemarrian Rail Gun. The sales model uses a gun like the NG-202 on the Samson power armor with a greater rate of fire. Statistic for that gun are in [ ]
    Maximum Effective Range: 6,000 ft (1828 m) [4,000 ft (1,200 m)]
Mega Damage: 2D6x10 per round [1D6x10 MDC per burst of 60 rounds (Does not fire single shot)]
Rate of Fire: Equal to combined hand to hand attacks of gunner
Payload: 440 Rounds (2 belts linked together) [3000 rounds (50 bursts)]
  2. Automatic Grenade Launcher: Replaces the 180 mm Grenade Launcher and like the original is built into the weapon turret next to the main gun. The turret has 360 degree rotation of the turret is possible, but the arc of fire for the grenade launcher is limited a 30 degree angle. Weapon is WI-GL21 Automatic Grenade Launcher mounted in the turret.
    Maximum Effective Range: 3,000 ft (914 m)
Mega-Damage: 4D6 for Fragmentation with a blast area of 12 ft and 1D4x10 for Armor Piercing with a blast area of 3 ft, burst of 10 rounds does 2D6x10 for Fragmentation with a blast area of 40 ft and 3D6x10 for Armor Piercing with a blast area of 8 ft.
Rate of Fire: Equal to combined hand to hand attacks of gunner
    Payload: 800 Rounds
  3. Mini-Missile Launchers (2): On the rear of the vehicle are two mini-missile launchers to increase the vehicles firepower. These missile launchers are detachable and can be jettisoned to prevent detonation. The launchers have 360 degree rotation..
Maximum Effective Range: Varies with missile types, mini-missiles only (Go to Revised bomb and missile table).
Damage: Varies with mini-missile types (Go to Revised bomb and missile table).
Rate of fire: One at a time or in volleys of 2, 4, 8, or 16.
    Payload: each launcher carries 24 mini-missile. For a total of 48 Mini-missile
