MARY BELLE TOLLE

Obituary
____________

     In loving remembrance of our darling baby, Mary Belle Tolle, daughter of Carey E. and Sadie Tolle. The child was born May 9, 1916 and departed this life September 16, 1916, aged four month and seven days. She had been in delicate health almost all her short life, and the last few days her suffering was great, and more than the frail little body could stand. On Saturday morn just as the day was breaking the little spirit took its flight to dwell with Him who said, "Suffer little children to come unto me. She leaves father, mother, two brothers, one sister, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn the loss. The funeral was held Sunday at the home, conducted by Rev. Potts and interment at the White Oak cemetery.

This little bud so fair and bright
Called hence by early doom;
Just came to show how sweet a flower
In paradise would bloom.
They pressed the dark fringed eyelids gently
O'er her blue eyes once so bright
Eyes that closed on earth forever
Opened up in paradise.
Go little pilgrim to your home
On yonders blissful shore
We miss you here but soon we'll come
Where you have gone before.

He departed this life at 8:05 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 1921, at St. Clara's hospital in Lincoln, Illinois, at the age of 34 years, 6 months and 7 days. His health had not been good of late, and last Saturday he underwent a surgical operation at the hospital for appendicitis and gall stones, and although he seemed to rally, his strength did not prove equal to the serious ordeal
     He was united in marriage with Miss Orva May Garrison, of West Union, Ohio, on December 25, 1910, coming to Illinois the same year, living for a time between Latham and Warrensburg, and the remainder of the time in Mt. He also leaves to mourn his departure, his father and mother, four brothers and one sister, living in Ohio, the parents residing at West Union. One brother preceded him in death about eighteen months ago.
     Mr. Tolle was a loyal and upright citizen, and a good neighbor, and will be sadly missed by his friends, and especially by his loving wife, who so faithfully stood by him in all of his hours of suffering. His only thought was for others, and especially his wife and little son, asking them not to grieve as he was ready and waiting for the Master to take him over the River, and that it would only be a few short years until they would be united again in the Home beyond the skies. He carefully and quietly made all the preparations for his funeral service, and among the many things that he requested was that his wife be dressed in white just as she was on their wedding day, and that the baby being dressed accordingly. Then he asked his wife to put her arms around him that he might peacefully take his last sleep in her arms, saying as he passed away, "All is well, all is well," His last hours were spent in praying and singing. He also requested that his wife's Sunday school teacher, Mrs. W.C. McGavock, sing "Just Over the River," accompanied by Mrs Lena Silkey, the latter being with him in his last hours.
     The remains were brought from the hospital in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon to the family home on the Baumann farm east of the city, where funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, conducted by Evangelist Lew I. But she liked to play with her children when she had the time, loved to play Chinese checkers one on one, and did a great deal of quilting. She enjoyed her family tremendously.
