My Own Little Corner of the Web

Front Patio

Come on in and make yourself at home! Sit here on the front patio and watch the birds take baths. The coffee pot is always on and the cat is friendly. Before you leave, I hope you'll sign my guestbook. I'd love to know who's been by to see me.

Picture of Stan & Gail

After 50 years of marriage and 23 different addresses, Stan and I have settled down, just off the 13th green of a beautiful golf course on the south-central coast of California.

Family Our Family

We've been blessed with three beautiful daughters, two great son-in-laws and four wonderful grandchildren. They were all here for the holidays, last year. If you'd like to see some pictures, just click on Our Family.

Stan celebrated his 70th birthday, in September, 2002 and lots of friends and family were there to mark the occasion. You're cordially invited to join us. Just click here

My Miniatures

Once again, Miniatures Unlimited hosted many local miniaturists at a Potluck Miniature Luncheon. The picture on the right is of the project that the members had prepared for us to make. We had a choice of a rocking horse or unicorn. Click here to see a few pictures from this fun day.

I'm a member of a relatively new miniature club, The Gold Coast Miniaturists. We're still small but growing and hope to recruit more members. I plan to periodically add pictures and such to a page, dedicated to our club. Click on the name above to view.

Rocking Horses

Dolly, Sueanna, Dee & Gail Golf

These are three of my best buddies, Dolly, Sueanna and Dee. It took over 50 years for me to get interested in learning to play golf but once I did, it became a passion. My handicap is 26 now but I hope to get it back down to 22, soon. Having never had a competitive bone in my body, it's a whole new experience for me. The game has brought Stan and I lots of wonderful friends and many exciting experiences.

Genealogy

When Stan retired from the Air Force, he took a job with a large corporation and we moved to New England. Quite by accident, I wound up in the genealogical section of the library and began looking through a county history. It was a life altering experience because I found relatives who had lived on Martha's Vineyard in the very early 1700's. This began my quest. Quest for what? Well, think of it as a huge crossword puzzle that always seems to have more blanks. It became an obsession for 5 years. I even found out what became of my great-great grandfather, who went to the Gold Rush in 1849 and was never heard from again.

The mother, in the picture on the right, is my great grandmother on my mother's side, Annie Irene Grady Meriwether. Her mother, Jane Futhey Grady, immigrated from Ireland with her parents,Henry and Elizabeth Futhey, and seven brothers and sisters, sometime between 1840 and 1844. They bought a farm and settled in Tipton County, Tennessee.

On the left is my grandmother, Lucile Jane Meriwether. Her little sister was named Berta. Their father, Whit J. Meriwether, died sometime before this picture was taken. Notice that Annie is in black.
