April Bible Study 2004 GTR Cover Sheet

This months cover sheet was written by Emma Reynolds.

January 26, 2004 my aunt Anna Kate Breeding died in a car accident.

January 28, 2004 my uncle Earl Breeding who was also in the same accident was taken off of life support, and he died.

January 29, 2004 We went to church where we are taught that it's the place for the hurting people. Well, this night it was not, it may be the place for some hurting people, but not for me. It is a place where people turn their backs on you, I know because that is what happened to me.

My husband was trying to tell our pastor about the death of my aunt and uncle, he just laughed and said, well I knew the truck driver (Who caused the accident that took my aunt and uncles life), he also said he had read about it in the paper. We told him that the wake was going to be on Friday January 30, 2004.

The service got started, and the pastor made his announcements. He didn't mention the death of my aunt and uncle, he never mentioned going by the funeral home to support my family.

Through this God has taught me a lesson, and that is you cannot put your trust in man, for if you do they will let you down, they will use you. It is times like this when you have a death in your family that you learn who really loves you. For in John 4:8 It says: (He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.) So where was the love from my church family?

On Thursday night January 29, 2004 I was hurt, I was angry and very upset, my heart was broken.

Oh! But, praise God I know one who went through it all, he was right there by my side holding my hand, giving me strength, his name is Jesus. In Hebrews 11:5 It says(I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee) Well, I'm here to tell you that if you put your trust in man they will fail you, because they cannot say that they will never leave you, but the word of God makes us that promise. God can and will back it up if we believe.

On Sunday night February 1, 2004 the Holy Spirit moved and took over the service. Well, I went to the altar and gave all my anger, and my broken heart to God, he took it all, he gave me such a peace.

In John 14:27 It says: Peace I leave with you my peace I give unto you not as the world giveth, give I unto you, let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.

Well, I have learned not to trust man, for they will fail you, but God can't and he won't.

Here is something I need to say, I call it Being Human:

Humans make mistakes. Mistakes can be made that cost us friendships, trust, and hope. And the hardest part about these mistakes is what it does to others, how it makes them feel. Losing the trust of a true friend is a very painful and hurtful situation for everyone involved. When you lose that trust you know you may never get it back, and that will make you feel about one inch tall. Being forgiven helps, but it don't take away that feeling of being untrustworthy. God forgives us when we ask, our friends forgive us when we ask, but to forgive ourselves is a hard thing to do, and sometimes takes a long time, and sometimes we can't.

Feelings and emotions are powerful, they will rule our lives if we let them. Sometimes they blind us to the best way to approach a situation. We think "Well I believe this is the best (perhaps only) way to do this." We decide that we know how to solve a situation, or to fix it, or allow it to continue. We do this because we are going by our feelings, and we will make a terrible mess of things. Going by our feelings can cost, it can cost the people that love us, it can hurt them deep. It can cost us the people we love, going by our feelings can break hearts. Feelings can cause someone we love to be removed from our lives perhaps forever, and that may be the most painful thing anyone can experience. What we need to do is to give every situation to God, really give it to him, and allow him to guide us. When we do that he will never guide us wrong. We as humans will make mistakes, we will hurt others, and others will hurt us. We as christians don't hurt each other on purpose, but yes we do hurt each other because we allow feelings to rule over us. I pray God will strengthen me and help me to control my feelings, and I pray those that I have hurt will forgive me and know that I truly am sorry.

Dear Lord, you know my heart, you know my life, you know every thing about me Father, nothing can be hid from you, when it comes to you we may as well write our feelings in letters ten feet tall, because you know us, everything about us. God I pray you comfort those that have been hurt, I pray for understanding for me and for others. I know God that you forgive us when we ask, and I thank you Lord for that forgiveness, but Lord, sometimes we need to forgive ourselves, sometimes we need to not be so hard on ourselves for our mistakes, and our trespasses against others. When we do allow our feelings to hurt others Father, I know we should be chastized, and I would want it no other way. So Lord comfort those that have been hurt, and forgive me for my trespasses, I ask this in the holy name of Jesus. A-men'
