The Love Boat?

Although Titanic's Rose (Kate Winslet) & Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) are fictional characters, at least one real-life romance resulted from the real disaster. First-class passengers Mary Eloise Smith and Robert Daniel met on the rescue ship Carpathia. Mary Eloise Smith had lost her husband in the tragedy but managed to find a future husband in Robert Daniel, whom she married two years after their salvation at sea. --*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*-

Icebergs in the Twilight Zone?

Fourteen years before the Titanic sank, English writer Morgan Robertson wrote "Futility," an imaginary account of a collision between an iceberg and a large transatlanticocean liner on her voyage to New York. But the similarities between fact and fiction go further than that. Robertson's ship was called Titan, it was 800 feet long (the actual Titanic was 882 feet) and not unlike the ill-fated ocean liner, the Titan also didn't have enough lifeboats. --*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*--*-

~Rose's dog (as an old woman) was a Pomeranian. A Pomeranian was one of only three dogs to have survived the 'Titanic' disaster.

~The 1910 song 'Come Josephine' which Jack sings to Rose, was a hit at the time. Not so coincidentally, Josephine is also the name of James Cameron's four-year-old daughter.

~Men like Cal actually could have gotten of the doomed oceanliner by grabbing small children. White Star employees never questioned it.

~It is possible the charcoal drawing could survived 85 years beneath the ocean. The leather portfolio would have protected it. Leather shoes can still be found inside the wreck of 'Titanic.'

~The 'Heart of the Ocean' doesn't not exist. It was a fictional object, closely modeled to the Hope diamond.
