     SAMUEL BASS., b. abt 1601 prob. in England. at the age of 93 on 30 Dec. 1694  in  Braintree, Norfolk Co., MA.[1/1:135]

      Samuel married in England to  ANN _____,. She died 5 Sept. 1663 in Braintree, Norfolk Co., MA. They had at least three children who were born probably in England and four children after settling in New England.[1/1:135]

     Samuel was found in Roxbury, Norfolk Co., MA. as early as 1632 and was voted freeman there on 14 May 1634. He removed with his family to Braintree in 1640. He was elected a representative from Braintree for the first time in 1641 and "often" served in that office subsequently. He was the first deacon in the Roxbury church and remained a deacon for 50 years.[1/1:135]

     SARAH BASS, b. either in Roxbury or Braintree, Norfolk Co., MA. She m. about 1662 to (1) Deacon JOHN STONE of Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA. He was the son of SIMON STONE and JOAN CLARK of Watertown.

     After the death of her first husband Sarah m. (2) Joseph Penniman. She was living in Sep. of 1739.
