WILLIAM BUCK was born about 1585 in England[4], and died on 24 Jan 1657/58 [5] at Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA. His wife's name is unknown and no wife travelled with him to New England[4] so she was perhaps deceased.
William, age 50, and his son Roger, aged 18 shipped out of London on the ship INCREASE, arriving in Boston in late July 1635. He was listed as "plowright", destination Cambridge, MA.[4]
After his arrival in Boston he proceeded to Cambridge where he settled and pursued the occupation of plowright. He resided to the northeast of Garden Street in the west field where there was formerly a highway called Raymond street which lead to the "Great Swamp".[5]
I'm looking now for information concerning the other three sons of William who are mentioned by Cole and Whitman. They didn't arrive with him on the ship Increase, did they come later? Did William re-marry and have them?

ROGER BUCK8 b. abt. 1617 England, d. 10 Nov. 1693 Woburn, Middlesex Co., Mass.; m. SUSANNAH ( _____) abt 1637. Roger, also a plowright, succeeded to his father's homestead in Cambridge. He was for a period of time the public executioner in Cambridge and was in 1668 ordered to administer twenty lashes to a "culprit". After Susanna's death in 1685 he removed to Woburn , most likely to live with his son Ephraim, for he was there in 1688 when he acknowledged the sale of part of his homestead to his son-in-law Thomas Baverick, stipulating that should Baverick sell the property Roger's son Ephraim would have first refusal on the property.

EPHRAIM BUCK* was born on 26 Jul. 1646 in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA., and died about 1720 at Woburn, Middlesex Co., MA. He married SARAH BROOKS on 1 Jan 1670/71 in Woburn. She was born on 21 Nov 1652 in Woburn. She was the daughter of JOHN BROOKS and EUNICE MOUSALL
Ephraim's will, dated 23 Nov. 1717, was proved 20 Mar 1720/21. The Hist. of Woburn, p. 123 states that Sarah had smallpox in the plague of May 1679.

JOHN BUCK JR.* was born on 28 Nov 1716 poss.at Haverhill, Essex Co., MA. and died on 3 Jan 1761 in New Gloucester, Cumberland Co., ME.. He is said to have m. SARAH CLEMENTS* abt 1741 or 1742 in Haverhill, Essex Co., MA.. She died on 25 Nov. 1760 in New Gloucester, Cumberland Co., ME. Sarah is said to have been born in Haverhill, part of the large Clements family there. In 1760 their son Abijah stated on his enlistment papers that he had been born in Dunstable, Middlesex Co., MA. His age was 17 which would have put them in Dunstable about 1742 or 1743. How long they resided in Dunstable isn't known. They removed to New Gloucester prior to 1754 where their son John III is said to have been born.
John Buck Jr. was a soldier in the French and Indian War. He was at one time captured by the Indians and was close to being executed by then but mananaged to escape. He and Sarah died within a short time of one another, John dying last, and tradition maintains they were buried in the same grave because the ground was frozen too hard and deep to dig a new grave. From the diary of his son Abijah Buck, "Abijah Buck, his book, 1760, God give him grace therein to Look". "New Gloster, November the 25, 1670, my mother died.", "Dec. the 10, 1760, I came home from Crown Point", "Jan. the 3, 1761, My father died and left us both motherless and fatherless".

1. Abijah Buck was born in Abt 1742 in Dunstable, Middlesex Co., MA., and died in 1829 at Buckfield, Oxford Co., ME. He married Phebe Tyler who died 17 Aug 1816 in Buckfield. Abijah "served in the Colonial forces during the greater part of the year 1760 - the year after Quebec had fallen. He had previously been a "Scout to the Eastward" From North Yarmouth, he had entered the service , and it was stated in his enlistment papers that he was born at Dunstable, Mass., age 17, and that his father's name was John Buck.[Cole & Whitman, p. 23]
2. Nathaniel Buck, d. 1817 in Buckfield, Oxford Co., ME., He m. Mary Brown, she died in 1826 in Buckfield.
3. Esther Buck, married John Ackers. He died in Errol, Coos Co., NH

JOHN BUCK III*, was born about 1754 in New Gloucester, Cumberland Co., ME. and died on 4 Mar 1828 in Woodstock, Oxford Co., ME. John m. ABIGAIL IRISH*, int. published on 8 Feb 1777 in Gorham, Cumberland Co., ME. Abigail was born on 24 Dec 1746 in Gorham, Cumberland Co., ME, and d. on 20 Jul 1824 in Buckfield, Oxford Co., ME. She was the daughter of JOHN IRISH* and Sarah (_____) of Gorham, ME.[1]
John was a Revolutionary War Vet, having been at Ticonderoga.[1]
John and Abigail arrived in Bucktown (later Buckfield), ME. in February or March of 1779. They brought with them their two daughters, the oldest aged two years, the youngest but a few weeks old having been born 5 Feb. 1779. Family tradition states their arrival was only a short time after her birth.[1]
The settlement of Bucktown was founded by John's older brother Abijah, who along with another brother Nathaniel, preceeded John in settling there. In 1786 Abijah Buck arranged the purchase of the township at two shillings an acre for a total purchase price of 1732 pounds, 17 shillings and 10 pence. The proprietors receiving their deed 13 Nov. 1788 although they had been deeding property to settlers since immediately after arranging the purchase. Of the 41 shares in the new township held by sixteen proprietors the Buck brothers were represented by Abijah - 9 shares, Nathaniel - 4 shares and John - 2 shares.[1]
John Buck was one of the petitioners to the General Court of Ma. in 1791 to incorporate a Baptist Society. (ie. Church) in Bucktown; was chosen Road Surveyor in 1794. [1-370]
"1828, March 4. of this year, John Buck, one of the early settlers in Buckfield, died in Hamlin's Grant, now a part of Woodstock, at the home of his son Simeon, at the age of 74. He had been an officer in the Continental Army, having entered the service from Haverhill.....". This section continues by stating that John had once been a large landholder in Buckfield; had later suffered from periods of apparently some form of Senile Dementia, during which he was subject to very erratic behavior such as appearing at the door of the church shouting that the parishioners should "beware of the wrath to come", and another time when he "cut down the liberty pole ..... which had been standing for many years and was an object of great veneration...". SARAH BUCK* was born on 12 Aug 1777 in New Gloucester, Cumberland Co., ME and died after 1850 at Buckfield, Oxford Co., ME. She married ENOCH PHILBRICK about 1797 probably in Buckfield. He was born on 11 May 1775 in Buckfield, ME, and died about 1830 in Buckfield. He was the son of JONATHAN PHILBRICK and ANNA (JONES?)
