Revolutionary Claim, Act 18th March, 1818 Unity Commonwealth of Massachusetts –
I Daniel Reynolds, aged sixty-two years a citizen of the United States Born in Middleborough Massachusetts now a resident in Plantation Of 25 Mile Pond, Kennebec County and District of Maine, upon oath testify and declare that I enlisted into the United States army during the revolutionary war, upon the continental establishment in the month of May 1775 for the period of 8 months, into the company commanded by Cap. Rounseval, and Col. Brewer's regiment of the Massachusetts troops a line. this period I fully served out and reenlisted into the same establishment into the company commanded by Cap. Le Grove and regiment commanded by Col. Joseph Reed, of the Massachusetts troops a line. I fully served out the period of my enlistment. I took my honorable tho. verbal discharge at Peaks Kill (Peekskill) New York Dec. 1776.
I again enlisted May 6, 1777 into the same establishment against the common enemy for the period of three years into the company commanded by Cap. Turner and regiment by Col. Bradford of the Massachusetts line. I fully served out the period of my enlistments and took my final and honorable discharge at West Point May 6, 1780. My discharge and receipt for my return of my implements of war is hereunto annexed. I was at the battle of East Chester, both battles at the taking of Burgoyne; also at the battle of Monmouth, and the battle at Stony Point under General Wayne. I _____ one winter at Valley Forge. From my reduced circumstances I am in need of assistance from my country for support. And I do hereby relinquish my claim to any pension heretofore allowed me by the laws of the United States, if any, but I am not to my knowledge borne on any pension list whatever. I Daniel Whitmore of Unity in the District of Maine of lawful age upon oath testify and declare that I am well acquainted with the above named Daniel Reynolds. From his reduced circumstances, he is need of assistance from his country for support. He sustains the character of a man of truth.

ON this twenty third day of May, 1820, personally appeared before Nathan Weston Junior, chief Justice of the Circuit Court of Common Pleas, for the Counties of Lincoln, Kennebec and Somerset, being a Court of Record for said Counties, proceeding according to the course of the common law, having original jurisdiction, unlimited in amount, keeping a record of their proceedings, and having the power of fine and imprisonment, Daniel Reynolds aged sixty four years, resident in twenty-five mile pond plant. in the County of Kennebec within said Circuit, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath, declare that he served in the Revolutionary war as follows, viz. in the Company commanded by Captain Turner and Regiment commanded by Colonel Bradford of the line of the state of Massachusetts upon the Continental Establishment, for the period of three years; and also previously for the term of one year and eight months, was at the Battle of the taking of Burgoyne, also Monmouth, and at the storming of Stony Point, and in three years service at the Battle of East Chester, that his original declaration was made before Judge Weston on the fourteenth day of April 1818; that he is now on the Maine Roll, and that his pension certificate is numbered 6284. And I, the said Daniel Reynolds, do further solemnly swear, that I was a resident citizen of the United States, on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighteen; and that I have not, since that time, by gift, sale or in any manner whatever, disposed of my property, or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress, entitled, "An Act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States, in the Revolutionary War," passed on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighteen; and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me, any property or securities, contracts or debts, due to me; nor have I any income, other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed, and by me subscribed. The following is a Schedule of my whole Estate and income, necessary clothing and bedding excepted, viz: One ox of the value of twenty five dollars One cow and calf of the value of twenty dollars Two sheep and one swine of the value of five dollars Old furniture, besides necessary bedding, of the value of five dollars I have no debt, due to me, and I owe about thirty dollars The income derived from the above property is very trifling, not exceeding five dollars a year, besides which I have no income derived from property, trade or profession. My occupation is that of a labourer, but from infirmity I am unable to labour. My family residing with me consists of four, myself, my wife, Thankful, aged about fifty four years unable to labor, my daughter Lorana, aged fifteen years and my grand daughter Thankful Wadley aged seven years. Except the foregoing and my necessary clothing.

DECLARATION In order to obtain the benefit of the third Section of the Act of Congress, of the 4th July, 1836. State of Maine. Waldo County, ss.
On this Fourteenth day of October A.D. 1837, personally appeared before Alfred Johnson Judge of the Court of Probate for said County of Waldo, in Open Court, Thankful Reynolds, a resident of Burnham in the County of Waldo and State of Maine, aged seventy eight years, who, being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress, passed July 4th, 1836; that she is the widow of Daniel Reynolds, late a Revolutionary pensioner of the U. States under law of March 18, 1818, that he served in Col. Bradford's regiment of the Mass. a line from the year 1777 to 1780 for the evidence of the services of her said husband she refers to the declaration made by him in order to establish his pension under said Act of March 18, 1818, now in the possession of the __ ___ ____________. She further declares, that she was married to the said Daniel Reynolds in the month of December in the year seventeen hundred and seventy nine; that her husband, the aforesaid Daniel Reynolds died on the thirteenth day of May A.D. 1832; and that she has remained a widow ever since that period, as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed.

I Daniel Reynolds [Jr.] of Burnham in the County of Waldo and State of Maine do testify and say that according to what my parents told me when I arrived to the age of understanding and recollection, I am the son and oldest child of Daniel Reynolds late a United States pensioner of said Burnham and Thankful Reynolds his widow that I was fifty-five years old last March, that when I was about ten years of age my parents moved from the State of New Hampshire to the town of Sidney in this State, that about three years after they moved to the twenty-five mile pond plantation now the town of Burnham, that I have always lived near my parents and that I have not for more than twenty years seen or heard of any such thing as a family record left by them I think that when I was young I saw and heard them _______ something of the kind on a leaf of oldish looking paper.

I Barak Reynolds of Burnham in the County of Waldo and State of Maine, do testify and say, that according to what my parents told me as soon as I could understand and recollect I am the son and fifth child of Daniel Reynolds late a pensioner of the United States of said Burnham and Thankful Reynolds his widow now of said Burnham, that I was forty six years old the 19th day of March last, that I have always, till within six months, lived in the same house that my parents did that something like twenty four or five years since, when looking over some old papers I saw one piece that had some of their oldest children's names and date of their births on it, that I have not seen it since and nothing of the kind is now to be found in the family.
