REPRIEVE

Loving arms reach to enfold
as kind hands stroke a brow;
misty eyes memorize and hold
and tender lips kiss now.

Waiting for another reprieve,
hands clasped in meditation;
this, this is hard to conceive,
hoping for miracle medication.

Lingering mind in habits old
of some disease prognostication,
as life moves on instead of hold
and leaves without consideration.
