It is quite interesting how man, not all men, has distorted the Creator's Laws on the topic of Homosexuality. The Scripture verse above is very clear, and there are many others, to what is the right moral approach in this matter. For some strange reason people have focused more attention on their "RIGHTS" than on their "RESPONSIBILITY" toward the Creator.
Yahweh, our Heavenly Father, in His Creation of mankind had a perfect plan as to how man was to live and multiply. Sexual intimacy or union between two people was part of His wonderful purpose and merely intended for pro-creation. This is not accomplished by man in sexual union with another man, nor by a woman in sexual union with another woman.
To further prove this fact, take two men or two women, place them on separate islands, provide them with all that is necessary to sustain life and see what happens after sixty or so years, maybe even sooner. They will die off and nothing or no one is left to carry on the human race. This is truly a sure sign for the intended purpose of sexual union between a man and a woman only.
So, how did man get himself into this mess? The Scriptures give us the answer. In Romans 1:21-32 tells us 21 "For even though they knew Yahweh, they did not honor Him as Yahweh or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible Yahweh for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. 24 Therefore Yahweh gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of Yahweh for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason Yahweh gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge Yahweh any longer, Yahweh gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of Yahweh, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of Yahweh, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them."
These verses should make it quite clear as to why the world is in such a conflict over sexual rights. Man chooses to ignore the Laws of what is RIGHT and all the ordinances given to him - for his own passions. Therefore, as it is said, man certainly will be given over "their hearts to impurity and served the creature rather than the Creator."
What makes this even worse and more confusing to people in this world of our's today, adding fuel to the fire, is when religious people from the pulpit support gay rights. In a recent newspaper article this statement was made by a minister in response to another letter to the editor: "I am persuaded by my own experience in knowing gay and lesbian people. I know them to be moral and caring individuals, hoping to find a love they can commit to and build a life with. Many are working to end violence, participate in their communities, help others and serve the common good. Some are also selfish, mean or promiscuous. In short, homosexuals enjoy the entire range of human personalities that heterosexuals do."
We can all agree, I think, to most of what has been said here - is true in some respect. Yes, a person can be caring and helpful to others, but does this make one a moral person if he/she engages in an un-natural sex act? Are they serving the common good of all? Is this the kind of love you would like for your children to commit to and build a life with? I hope not! There is only one kind of LOVE that we must build upon, that satisfies the human spirit and thus will spill over into the natural world and the people around us. That Love is the Love that we have toward our Creator and being obedient to Him. True Love is not found in sexual union as man has come to so think. I'll exemplify on this more in a moment.
It was further said in this article: "I believe it is possible to be deeply religious, moral and ethical people, and to support gay rights. I am not alone. My denomination openly took stands to support gays and lesbians as early as 1970. And other religious people agree." Does this make it right just because others may agree? This person seems to think so.
Also, it was said: "I am unpersuaded by arguments based on the Bible. I believe the Bible is an inspired set of texts, but written by humans. I believe we need to approach the Bible with our divine gift of reason to understand its historical context and its limits."(emphasis mine) Does this sound like the divine gift of reason is being used to you? Very unlikely I would say! Sounds more like human reasoning, and you know how far that can get us in the ways of spiritual things.
If man is to grow in spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and personal responsibility pertaining to the act of sexual union, which he calls "LOVE", he first must learn what True Love is "NOT". The facts are that man has lost his ability to discern "True Love" from the "Act of Sex." This has caused the entire civilization of man, over and over to be pulled down, and for man to become lost in his own passions or lusts of the flesh. The flesh is very deadly to the spirit life of man. The Bible gives many references to these facts as well as our history books on the civilization of man. See the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and the problems that existed there, and the kind of intervention that had to take place.
The whole point, of course, is that sexual union does have a purpose which man has lost sight of. What man has come to call "LOVE" really has nothing to do with what is simply a body function in the plan of pro-creation. The unnatural sexual act between a man and man, or a woman and woman, certainly do not fit into this plan. Man must rise above the level of non-thinking animals and assume personal responsibility for his actions. True love is found, when one desires the oneness of another, in the spirit intent and not in the function of the human body.
