The True Sabbath Day
"Then Yahweh blessed the Seventh Day and set it apart to be holy."
Genesis 2:3

     Greetings, in Yahweh (God) and Yahshua (Jesus) the Messiah. This section is dedicated to what is the "True Sabbath Day of Worship" that one should be keeping. Because of the importance surrounding this matter, it is the hope of this web site Ministry, that all who are about to analyze the facts contained within on the subject of the True Sabbath Day, will keep an open mind and let the facts speak for themselves. Then, you can decide for yourself which way you chose to go. Either, by following in the ways of man's doctrine and traditions or in the ways your Creator and Heavenly Father has ordained for man to follow in.

     Furthermore, it is very important and relative that one reads all the facts first before one makes a decision on this subject. Therefore, if you don't have the time to read it all now, you can come back later by book marking this page or print out the page and you can read it later at your own leisure time. And, if you come to believe that these facts are true and you valve the soul of a loved one, be it a family member, a relative, or a friend, pass these facts on to them also.

     The Christian Congregation today, which is made up of various groups or denominations, is in grave danger due to the "Iniquity" that presides within their walls of meeting places. Iniquity is an age-old spiritual disease which the dictionary defines as "great wickedness." Scriptures in the Bible define wickedness as - "sin." 1 John 3:4 says "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." Putting it in simply terms means "One who does not obey the Laws of Yahweh is committing sin."

     We are told that Yahweh "does not change" Malachi 3:6. When He gave us the Commandments in the O.T. He did not changes them in the N.T. as most would like to believe. Yahshua verified this Himself when He said "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil" (Mt 5:17). In this verse the word "fulfil" would be better rendered as "Establish" as seen in Romans 3:31 when Paul says that we should "establish the law."

     One person, not long ago, made this statement in the form of a question "If we are told in the N.T. to keep the Commandments as Yahshua (Jesus) said, do we only keep nine of the Commandments and do away with the fourth?" The Fourth Commandment has to do with keeping the Sabbath Day and as outlined in Genesis 2:3 as to what day - that day was to be. Scripture is very clear on this matter.

     It must be said, that there are some who do keep the Seventh Day "Saturday" as their day of worship. But, nevertheless, most Ministers when asked will answer your question about keeping the Sabbath Day - as Sunday as the observance day of worship; And, even a few might add "It doesn't make any difference what day you keep, as long as you keep one of them."

     This has become one of the most controversial and debated question of the day when it comes to one wanting to know the real truth. Especially, when most people are Keeping Sunday as their day of worship, which is the first day of the week, and truly believe that they are doing the right thing. The first question one should ask themselves is: Did Yahweh ordain the first day of the week in His Word? Will these Ministers who teach Sunday as the true day of worship, here these words one day "depart from Me, I never knew you." These are only a couple of the questions people should be asking themselves. Don't rely upon man's word! Read and study the Word for yourself!

     So! How can we then come to or draw this matter to its proper conclusion once and for all? There are two ways in which this matter can be brought to its rightful conclusion; Whether one wishes to keep the rightful day is another thing. First, we only need to look at what the Word of Yahweh has to say. Either His Word is unerring or it is not. If one is not totally convinced through this method; Secondly, one can search out the Books of History pertaining to this matter and find some shocking validation of truth.

     As we begin to prove which day is the PROPER Day of Worship, we'll be going back and forth between Bible Scriptures and the Books of History.

     Let us look first in the book of Genesis to see what Yahweh had to say;

     Gen. 2:2-3, "And on the SEVENTH DAY Yahweh ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the SEVENTH DAY from all His work which He had done (3) Then Yahweh blessed the SEVENTH DAY and set it apart to be holy, because in it He rested from all His work which He had created and made."

     I want you to pay very close attention to what Yahweh said in verse 3, Yahweh "BLESSED" the Seventh Day" first, and secondly He "SET IT APART." Why did He set it apart from the other six days? He set it apart to be - "HOLY". This is truly a very Special Day from all the rest in which we are to set aside, keep it holy, and keep it in honor of Him for what He had done. Although we should be keeping everyday holy, as most would agree to, again it must be said, this was truly to be a Special Day to be set aside each week and devoted to Him.

     If one would take a look at the calender they have hanging on their wall somewhere, it would become quite apparent to what the first day of the week is and what is the last day. It shows, at lest mind does, that Sunday is the first day of the week and Saturday as the last day of the week. In a moment you'll see where we got the names for the days of the week. So then, why are people keeping Sunday, which is the first day of the week, as their Sabbath Day and not Saturday which is the seventh day of the week as we were commanded to do?

     This Seventh Day contains a vital ingredient that none of the other six days contained, "Yahweh's Blessing." This day not only preserves our physical, mental and spiritual health, but it is a day to remember that we have a special appointment every week to experience communing with our Heavenly Father; Who will give us peace of mind and calmness in carrying us through the following week.

     There are many ancient calenders that have been in use throughout the ages. In 45 B.C. Julius Caesar put into use the first modern day calendar, similar to ours, naming the days of the week as we now have them. The Babylonians used the planets to name their days, because they worshiped the planets. The Teutonic tribes of Germany used a few of their own gods, along with planets, to name their days. This was before the time of Yahshua (Jesus) and may be where Julius Caesar came up with his days of the week. Even though these days of the week existed as we now have them back then, the Writers of the Bible never referred to them in their writings, nor did the Hebrew people, because they were of Pagan origin.

     The list following for the days of the week are from the Teutonic gods:

     * Sun - Sunday
     * Moon - Monday
     * Tiu - Tuesday
     * Woden - Wednesday
     * Thor - Thursday
     * Frigg - Friday
     * Seturn - Saturday

     Now, we'll look at some things that have been recorded down through the ages of history. In the Encyclopedia Britannica, ninth edition, gives us the first and earliest recognition of what was called the Sunday Law. The enactment of the Sunday Law took place in 321 A.D. during Constantine's time, and became as a legal duty for all the people to follow. The degree can be found in History Records and reads as follows: "Let all the judges and town people, and the occupation of all trade rest on the venerable day of the sun." Edict of March 7, 321 A.D. Corpus Juris Civilis Cod., lib. 3, tit. 12, Lex. 3. Those who did not follow this duty and who were caught had to undergo being jailed and in some cases - even put to death.

     Bibles were taken away from the people and burned. Over the years, the people without Bibles were taught by only those who were in authority in the churches. After a few hundred years these people being without Bibles soon forgot what the True Sabbath Day was and followed in the Sunday keeping of the Sabbath Day which the church had been teaching. No one really questioned the authority of the church which was in Rome.

     However, there was still a few people, who in secret, keep the Saturday Sabbath as Yahweh had commanded. Yet, they were in constant fear for their lives. We as people of the Faith, are grateful to these few who remained obedient to the Laws of Yahweh. For today, we have more and more people turning to keeping that one Day set aside for man to keep. We may not agree with all the other doctrines these groups follow, but they are doing at lest one thing right according to scripture: "That's a good start."

     Nevertheless, we must also remember, there will come that day again, that the True Sabbath Keepers will be persecuted once more. Satan hates those who keep the Fourth Commandment probably more than anything else. For he (Satan) is not getting the recognition he wants.

     The following facts about knowing the True Sabbath Day are given because everyone should not be ignorant of them; And, they are given in loving kindness toward all my Catholic Friends, not to putting them down in anyway, but only to make them aware of the True Facts. Then, you can make your own choice.

     Sunday Worship had long been a pagan custom or festival and Pope Sylvester (314-337 A.D.) came to proclaim Sunday as the "Lord's Day". The church leaders sided with the Pope and declared the Bible Sabbath to be a relic of the Jewish people and anyone who kept the Fourth Commandment was pronounced to be accursed.

     As most of us know, the line or secession of Popes comes from the Roman Church, also known as the Catholic Church, and here are some statements from some of it's leaders:

     H. F. Thomas: Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons. In answer to a letter regarding the change of the Sabbath. Cardinal Gibbons, in Faith of Our Fathers, pg 111, said: "You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify."

     The Catholic authorities proclaim: The Bible says, "Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day." The Catholic Church says, "No! By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day, and command you to keep the first day of the week. And lo, the entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic Church!" From the book "History of the Sabbath" Father Enright C.S.S.R. of the Redemptoral College, Kansas City, Mo.

     In another book on the History of the Sabbath, not the same book as above, we can read this "Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act. And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters."

     From these statements it should be quite clear who was involved in changing the Saturday Sabbath to Sunday, and based merely on their own doctrine which was established by them.

     If you search out this matter for yourself, you will find many other Denominations of various Faiths make claim "Nowhere in the Bible is it said that worship should be done on Sunday." All of these statements may come as a great shocker to the many, but they are true. Who are you willing to follow, man's doctrine or the Laws of Yahweh?

     Over a long period of time through the help of man, Satan has worked very hard to hid the real truth of Yahweh's sacred Sabbath Day from us. This Sacred Day is not only a sign from Yahweh, but also is His seal to the called out ones, chosen ones or elect. Ezekiel 20:12 tells us quite plainly "Moreover, I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am Yahweh Who sanctifies them." (See verse 20 also).

     This is not a sign to be taken lightly, this was Yahweh's seal to those who were called out by Him, to be His people. They were to keep the Sabbath Day as Yahweh had ordained in His Law. James 4:17 reminds us "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good (Keeping Yahweh's Law), and doeth it not, to him it is sin." To those of us who know, as James said, "if we knoweth to do good" and we do not keep the true Sabbath Day once we know the truth, we are sinning against Yahweh and His Forth Commandment. No! We are not perfect and sin daily, but if we do sin knowingly, by not keeping the Seventh Day - Saturday Sabbath, we certainly have no excuse whatsoever and must repent of the wrongs that we are doing.

     Also, we must remember that there is more to repenting and asking forgiveness for our wrong doings, we must try doing what is right!

     The issue of keeping the correct Sabbath Day should be quite plain and simply. If we are to be obedient to the Father's Authority, we cannot be obedient to the Papacy's authority. For Matthew 6:24 says "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve Yahweh and mammon." (See Luke 16:13 also)."

     Romans 6:16 tells us "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"

Our Great Example

     Throughout the N.T. it is recorded that Yahshua (Jesus) who was to be our example - kept the Saturday Day Sabbath. We know from recorded history it was the custom of the Hebrew people to keep Saturday as their Sabbath. In Luke 4:16 gives us verification Yahshua did also: "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read." Mark 6:2 says "And when the Sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue."

     We must remember, when our Master Yahshua walked the earth He taught out of the O.T., for the N.T. had not yet been written, and many of the scriptures He quoted can also be found in the N.T. when it was written. Never once did Yahshua CONTRADICT the Scriptures of the O.T. or change them to meet His own self interests. He taught the Father's Laws as they were written.

     Even Yahshua's own Disciples whom followed Him kept the Sabbath as was the custom in those days. Yahshua had high regards for the Weekly Sabbath, as He did for the other Seven Feast Days ordained by His Father. It is strange how we as Christians can keep all the pagan Holidays, such as Christmas, Easter, and etc., but we can't keep the days our Heavenly Father had established for us to keep!

     Even, for about forty years after the death and resurrection of Yahshua the Disciples continued to keep the regular Saturday Sabbath, before Rome took over the land in 70 A.D.. If there had been a change in the keeping of the Sabbath, don't you think that they would have said so somewhere in their Writings?

     Many Christians believe or are taught, that when Yahshua was crucified that everything was nailed to the Cross with Him, including the Seventh Day Sabbath. This is an out right Disgraceful Lie!!! In Matthew 24, Yahshua tells His disciples about the many things to come; Such as the Temple's destruction (70 A.D.), of His Second Coming, of conditions in the Last Days - along with the false prophets who would be teaching lies, and He mentions the Sabbath. If the Sabbath was not so important: "Why even mention it?"

     Verse 24:20 reads as follows "But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on the Sabbath Day." Some have inferred that Yahshua was talking about the Temple which would be destroyed, pertaining to a future event. However, it is more likely that He was talking about the future of the last days; Because, in verse 21 He says "For then will be great tribulation, such as has not come to pass since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever will be."

     In either case, whether referring to the Temple or Last Days, we are told to pray that the Father would so arrange when one would have to flee, it would be neither winter nor on the Sabbath. Here one can truly see the Sabbath is still enforced. No! The Sabbath was not nailed to the cross as some have inferred. Neither were any of the other Commandments.

     Yahshua goes on to say in Mark 2:27,28: "Then He said to them: The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath; Therefore, the Son of man is also the teacher of the Sabbath." In the latter part of vs. 28, this may be referring to Matthew chapter 5. But, nevertheless, vs. 27 certainly refers to Gen. 2:3, by saying "the Sabbath was made for man." As Yahweh had Blessed that Day, set it apart from the other six, and wanted for us to keep it Holy.

     Yahshua certainly was our perfect example, not only in teaching about the Sabbath, but in keeping the Sabbath Himself. Therefore, if our faith is in Him and we are told to follow in His ways; Then why are we not keeping the True Sabbath Day?

The Millennium Sabbath

     One will find it very interesting, if one studies the Scriptures, that the Sabbath will be kept even in the millennium. All one needs to do is read Isaiah 66:22,23 which talks about the future times; (22) "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith Yahweh, so shall your seed and your name remain. (23) And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith Yahweh."

     Here, it is certainly evident, Isaiah has recorded Yahweh's future prediction of man - in keeping the Sabbath. The "new heavens" and the "new earth" with no doubt is speaking of the millennium at the end of this age. Yahweh goes on to say "which I will make, shall remain before me." We know this has not happen yet and does not take place until after the great tribulation occurs. And, "From one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship me." Does the Almighty Yahweh mean what He says? Only you can answer that question!

     Yahshua confirms what Isaiah had said by saying this "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (or established)." (Mt 5:18). Never was the Sabbath done away with and it will last throughout eternity.

     By studying the scriptures we not only learn about what day we are to keep as the True Sabbath Day, how long it will be kept enforced by Yahweh, but we also learn how one should observe this Special Holy Day.

     We won't go into a lot of detail about this subject now, other than to say: This is a day of rest, no work should be done, food to be eaten on this day should be prepared the day before, only activities of humanitarian purpose may be done, and above all - this day is to honor our Almighty Creator and Father who is Yahweh.

The Churchmen Vs. The Sabbath

     The following is an article presented as it was written, showing how modern day ministers will take scripture out of context to prove that the True Sabbath Day is no longer an obligation for New Testament Believers.

     Many churchmen use Romans 14:5-6 as proof that the New Testament Believers no longer have an obligation to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. So let us examine those two verses, just as a Judge would consider evidence in his courtroom, and then decide whether or not these verses testify against Sabbath keeping.

     Paul wrote: "One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth [observeth] the day regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks." (Romans 14:5-6)

     The Judge would ask: "Where is the Sabbath mentioned in those verses". The Sabbath is not mentioned there, nor in the entire book of Romans! No court in the land would allow verses that do not mention the Sabbath to be used as evidence in an argument against the Sabbath - so why should we?

     You see, Paul could not have been talking about keeping the Sabbath day holy because obedience to God's Law is not optional. It is ludicrous to suggest that any of the Ten Commandments can be disobeyed "unto the Lord". Think of the absurdity of saying "He that stealeth, to the Lord he stealeth; and he that stealeth not, to the Lord he stealeth not."

     What then was Paul talking about? He was talking about fast days. The whole 14th chapter of Romans is about food and how people's beliefs about eating should be interfered with. The fast days could be observed according to each believer's conscience. A man could eat or not eat, keep the day or not keep it. It is as simple as this: Each man could observe Fast Days, or not observe them, according to his own convictions.

     "He that does not eat, regards the day. He that eats, does not regard the day."

     The "days" that Paul was referring to were the traditional fast days mentioned in Zechariah 7:5-6. The Gentile Christians in Rome did not keep them because they had no cultural interest in the anniversary fasts that were observed during the Jew's captivity in Babylon. (See footnote #1)

     Even the Jews themselves had different convictions about the observance of those days, because those fasts were never commanded by God.

     After the captivity (when the temple was being rebuilt) the men of Bethel also wondered if they should observe these fasts unto the Lord. For example, they asked Zechariah: "Shall I weep in the fifth month and abstain, as I have done these many years?" (Zech. 7:2-3)

     When you read Zechariah's answer, notice the striking similarity of his words with those of Paul to the church at Rome . . .

     COMPARE Zechariah 7:5-6

     ". . .When ye FASTED and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, DID YE AT ALL FAST UNTO ME even to me [the Lord]? And when ye did EAT, and when ye did drink, did ye not EAT FOR YOURSELVES and drink for yourselves?"

     WITH Romans 14:6-7

     "He that regardeth the [fast] day regardeth it UNTO THE LORD; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that EATETH, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that EATETH NOT, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth thanks. For none of us LIVETH TO HIMSELF, and no man dieth to himself."

(Match COLORS in COMPARE to WITH)

     If you were the Judge in the case of the CHURCHMEN Vs. THE SABBATH, would you be willing to say that Paul had canceled one of the Commandments of God based on the evidence you find in the 14th chapter of Romans?

     In our opinion, the evidence from Romans and Zechariah demands a verdict for Sabbath observance. The church must obey the Fourth Commandment and that is the only decision that will uphold the Law of God. (See footnote #2)

     Footnotes:

     (1) These are the four traditional fasts that were mentioned in Zechariah:

     1. (The fast of the fourth month) in remembrance of the breaking of the wall of Jerusalem.
     2. (The fast of the fifth month) in remembrance of the burning of the temple.
     3. (The fast of the seventh month) in remembrance of the killing of Gedaliah, which completed the dispersion.
     4. (The fast of the tenth month) in remembrance of the beginning of the siege of Jerusalem. (See - Jer. 52:6, 52:12-13,
         2 Kings 25:1 and 25.)

     It is of interest to note that those dates commemorate the judgments of God upon a people who refused to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. (See Jer. 17:19-27)

     (2) "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God." (Ex. 20:8-10)

FUTILE AND USEFUL FASTS

     There are two kinds of fasts; the fast unto ourselves (which are futile) and the fast unto the Lord (which are useful). Futile fasts come from a selfish motive. Some are simply hunger strikes that are contrived to influence God so He will give us what we want, or soften His punishment for our disobedience.

     Zechariah rebuked the men of Bethel for the way the Jews had observed their fasts during the captivity. They mourned the loss of their temple, its riches, and the desolations of Jerusalem but neglected the condition of their hearts.

     Without a broken and contrite heart, fasting often becomes a cloak for sin. That is why the men rebuilding Jerusalem were told to listen to the former prophets who demanded obedience to God's law. (Zech. 7:5-14)

     Before the captivity, the prophet, Jeremiah had warned the Jews that if they did not repent of their sins, they would be in captivity for seventy years. Because of their disobedience, the many fasts of the captivity proved to be futile. God did not alter the severity of His punishment, and Israel served every single year of its sentence. (Jer. 25:11, Dan. 9:2)

     Throughout history, the children of God have been told that fasting without obedience is meaningless. Here is what Isaiah, and an early church father had to say about fasting:

     Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor (brethren) that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou cover him?" (Isaiah 58:6-7)

     "I will teach thee what is a complete fast and acceptable to the Lord. God desireth not such a vain fast [the accustomed fasts] but fast thou [unto God] such a fast as this; DO NO WICKEDNESS IN THY LIFE, AND SERVE THE LORD WITH A PURE HEART: OBSERVE HIS COMMANDMENTS." (The Shepherd of Hermas)

     God has promised that He will bless those who keep His commandments, and curse those who do not. (Whether we fast or not) Deut. 28

     According to Lightfoot, "The work [Shepherd of Hermas] is found in general circulation in the Eastern and Western churches, soon after the middle of the second century... It is quoted by Irenaeus in Gaul, by Tertullian in Africa, by Clement and Origen in Alexandria. All these fathers - even Tertullian, before he became a Montanist - either cite it as scripture, or assign to it a special authority as in some sense inspired and quasi- canonical."

     (2) Jamieson Fausset & Brown's Commentary on Zech. 7:5 points out the difference between the futile fasts of the captivity and the true "fast unto the Lord" of Romans 14:6, we read:

     "Did ye fast unto Me? No: it was to gratify yourselves in hypocritical will-worship. If it had been "unto me" ye would have "separated yourselves" not only from food, but from your sins (Isaiah 58:3-7). They falsely made the fast an end, intrinsically meritorious in itself, not a means towards God's glory in their sanctification. (Romans 14:6)" Jamieson Fausset & Brown Bible Commentary Vol. 2, pg. 855 1888

Closing Summary

     Upon closing this debate concerning the Sabbath Day, we present the following review based upon Scriptural and Historical Facts.

     1 Yahweh established the Seventh Day on which man was to keep the Sabbath Day according to Genesis 2:2,3.. He Blessed the Day, set it apart, and made it holy.

     2 Sunday observance of the Sabbath is the product of paganism based upon the pagan Roman Empire and its Mithraism religion being in the form of sun-worship.

     3 We learned how the weekly calender came about which we use today and also was used back then by the early church.

     4 We learned that Bibles were taken away from the people and burned, causing people to forget the Truths of the Most High over a period of time and leading people to follow in the popular traditions of paganism.

     5 We learned when and how the Sunday Law (321 A.D.) came into being, along with the Pope Sylvester making Sunday the "Lord's Day." Thus, traditions of heathenism became christianised in which most people follow today.

     6 We learned what various denominations of faith agree and make claim, that no where in the Bible is there proof of a Sunday Sabbath ordained by Yahweh.

     7 We learned from scripture that the Saturday Sabbath will be carried right into the New Millennium and throughout All Eternity.

     With all the facts presented to you centered around the keeping of the True Sabbath Day, there's only one thing left for you to do; That is, you must now decide who you are going to follow, Traditions of Man or the Laws of Yahweh.

May Yahweh Bless You In Your Search For Truth
