ABOUT ME
Hi. I am now a junior studying at the University of Northern Iowa
with Jeff Funderburk. UNI is a great music school, the tuba studio
is very supportive. I am playing in the Wind Symphony, Chamber Winds,
UNITUBA and a tuba-euphonium quartet. My current horn is a PT-6. I'm
playing the school's F, which is an old 6 valve Menil Weston, I have no
idea what the model number is. I do know however, that playing on bad
schools instruments is a great incentive to buy your own horn.
REFLECTIONS ON ITEC 1998
This summer I was fortunate to attend the ITEC conference in Minneapolis.
It certainly got me excited about tuba and I feel my playing improved
just by being around great players. My only regret was that I was not
yet 21 and therefore missed out on most of the fun. Highlights of the
conference for me were Pat Sheridan's recital, Meditation from Taisse
has always been one of my favorite pieces, the mock orchestral audition
competition, Mark Nelson's fabulous rendition of Three Furies with
orchestra, and of course, Dr. Funderburks perfomrance of the Hidas Tuba
Concerto. Everything was good, but these were some of my favorites.
