Can Help:
-Dyslexia-
-Attention Deficit Disorders-
-Learning Disabilities-
Students with reading, writing and/or spelling difficulties may be labeled dyslexic, slow learner or attention disordered.
They may not qualify for special education or 504 programs in the public school system or, if they do, they don't recieve enough help.
These students have learning differences, but when given the right learning tools, they can perform as their peers do.

Teaching Approach
At the Turning Point School, students are instructed using the Slingerland Adaptation of the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory approach to Language Arts.
This total language approach emphasizes teaching through the intellect to help students think through what they are learning.
This simultaneous multisensory approach integrates the three primary sensory modalics: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic motor.
Students learn to use all of their senses simultaneously to help them learn what other students can do automatically.
Students develop strategies that will allow them to succeed in any classroom setting. They develop skills to overcome their learning challenges.
Turning Point School's teachers are specially trained in the Slingerland approach and use this multi-sensory method across the curriculum.
