Jeff Bridges - A Little Background

A Little Background

One of the most talented actors today, Jeff Bridges, the three time Academy Award nominee, never fails to show his versatility on the big screen. Seeing the typecasting his father Lloyd Bridges endured (first as a deep-sea diver, then a comedic pilot) he was then determined to not be dealt with in the same manner. Anyone who has seen Jeff in the movies knows the incredible flexibility that he has as an actor, from the egocentric yet endearing radio DJ, Jack Lucas (The Fisher King) to a psychopathic obsessive (The Vanishing) or even the mellow, White Russian drinking, pot smoking Dude (The Big Lebowski).

In 1988, he became the youngest actor to be honored by the National Film Theater in London with a three-week, 18 film tribute and two years later he was named the National Association of Theater Owners Male Star of the Year. In 1994 he received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame placed beside that of his father.

Currently, his Production Company, AsIs Productions, is developing the Newberry Award winning young people's novel, The Giver, which is set to film in the fall of '98.
