Baked Apple Slices

3 large baking apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 cup apple cider
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup walnuts or raisins
Vanilla ice cream

Place apples in a greased 1-qt. baking dish. Combine sugar, cinnamon, 
nutmeg, ginger and apple cider; pour over apples. Dot with butter. 
Sprinkle with nuts or raisins. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F. 
for 45 to 60 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm over 
ice cream.  Makes 4 servings.
