The TK family of tankettes

The TK-3

Serious production of this series began in 1931 with this model.

The TK-S

Started in 1933, 390 were built. Armor was up to 10 mm and a few were made of cast armor (1934) just like the early American Sherman tanks. Between 1936/39 work was carried out to up-gun the tank by mounting a 20 mm automatic cannon in a large ball mount.

The TK-1 and TK-2

The only difference was the transmission placement. Developed based on the Vickers Carden Lloyd MkVI. First developement started in 1929. The difference between the two appears to be the placement of the transmission. Only one TK-1 and one TK-2 were produced - prototypes only.

The TK-W

The TK-D

Armed with a 47 mm cannon. Only 4 prototypes were ever produced and probably took part in the defense of Warsaw.

TK-F

The last attempt to update TK tankettes was the TKF. The first tank was built in 1933 and after a series of trails production was started in 1934. Total production was 18 tanks of which 13 was mobilized in September 1939 for 101 Tank Company by 2 Armored Battalion. The main improvements were: the Polish Fiat 508 engine and welded armor. It was armed with 7.9mm wz.25 machine gun and 9mm wz.28 machine gun mounted on top of the superstructure. 9mm wz.28 machine gun was to be used as an anti-aircraft weapon. TKF served during September campaign with 10 Armored Brigade (10 Brygada Kawalerii Zmotoryzowanej).
