The Land and its People

The  United Arab Emirates lies on the  eastern side of  the Arabian  peninsula ,   with  the  coastlines  of  the  Arabian Gulf  and   the Gulf  of Oman with a total area,  including  200  islands of 83,300  square kilometres ,  inhabited     by  2,38       million  people . The  most of  its  terrain  consists         of  mountains or deserts , which    was   the  main       cause   for  its people living on the coastal cities or some  in-land  oasis   like  Al Ain ,  Al Dhaid and         Liwa . The      people   of   UAE  are  Arabs with  history and culture dating back  to at  least  6,600 years. UAE   is   one  of     the   fastest   growing countries in  the world   and  the  major  economic force in the region. The  Federation of  UAE  was in2nd of December1971when  the seven Emirates  ,Abudhabi , Dubai , Sharjah  ,  Ajman  ,   Ras  Al  khaimah ,Al Fujairah and Umm Al Qaiwain united  Since then, the people of  the  UAE  had achieved progress in all aspects of life in a record  time   and  pace.  

H.H. sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan

The far sight and unique leadership of His Highness Sheikh Zayed  bin Sultan Al Nahyan ,  the   President, were  the  main  causes  that made the  UAE   the modern country it is today . UAE  is  the  third    richest country in the world with  $ 16471 per  capita  income    . The   fourth petroleum exporting country in  the world   with  2,15  million barrels a day . UAE , also enjoys  the   least crime-rate    in    the   world    with 19-1000. In the  UAE  there  is  a teacher  for every  12  students , a doctor  for  every  311  persons, a hospital bed for  every  853 , a car for  every  6  and  a   telephone for every 3 persons.

UAE Economy

UAE  economic  policy  depends on various income resources  .It achieved great  success  leading  to the establishment of  numerous  industries supported  by   active  duty - free zones which led  to increasing   the country's exports,other than petroleum, by three fold since   1980 . The   UAE   has   a   modern   net   of transportation and telecommnuication which includes six International Airport   ,   15    sea   ports   serving approximately 3 million container  annually ,  one  of these ports is Jable Ali,the world's bigger man-made sea port. Progress in the UAE  has  been    total and included all aspects of life.

The UAE  is  now  one  of  the  Middle East's     top      destinations      for brid-watching .

UAE is  the  sports  capital   of  the  Middle East.While soccer remains the most popular spectator sport , huge investment in sports facilities principally in Abu Dhabi ,  Dubai   and   sharjah   has   brought  the  UAE   World championships in powerboats races as well as cricket , tennis  ,    rugby  ,   bowling  ,   snooker , basketball   , volleyball , golf , handball , soccer  and    international horse races  including   Dubai  World Cup , the richest horse race in the world  .

Many people visit  the  UAE         specifically to take advantag         of  low  import duties  which           ensure   shopping    bargains       galore, both in the traditional           bazaars know  as  " souks   "          and     in       the    numerous      sopisticated   air-conditioned       shopping  malls   which   sell   internationally  -    renowned   brand     names, including the   latest in designer fashion wear Dubai     Shopping    Festival         became  an annual   paradise      for  bargain  hunters  from all        over    the    world    offering     discounts up to 50 % .
