NOTE: Much confusion of thought exists because the constellations have the same names as the signs of the zodiac. Astrologers in the main deal with the zodiac and it's signs, and not with the constellations of the same name. The 30 deg of the ecliptic known to astrologers as Aries always begins from the point of the Vernal Equinox, and due to 'precession' this point changes gradually against the background of the star constellations, which have the same names as the zodiacal signs. At one time they were in sync, and it is possible that the constellations were named 'after' the signs of the zodiac. Due to precession, the vernal equinotical point shifts backwards along the ecliptic and is now begining to merge with the constellation of Aquarius - thus, the Age of Aquarius. However, astrologers still call this vernal equinotical point, and the 30 degrees of the ecliptic after it, "Aries", as it always has been:

The Great Ages are reckoned by the constellations of stars which form the background to this equinotical point.

'Astrology'

"for the benefit of all Mankind"

A Study of the Great Ages, and other astrological journeys.

As we enter the Age of Aquarius, learn now about the other great ages we have left behind.

Each 'Great Age' lasts approximately 2,000 years, roughly speaking, and they move backwards through the constellations: therefore, we are now moving out of the Piscean age and into the Aquarian age.

Before Pisces there were the Arien, Taurean, Geminian, Cancerian, Leonian ages, and so on. The great age of Leo takes us back to around 10,000BC.

I won't go into any great technical detail here on the astronomical reasons for the occurence of the 'Ages', suffice to say that they are caused by a phenomenon called "the Precession of the Equinoxes". Precession occurs because of the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon on the protuberant matter at the Earth's equatorial region causing a 'wobble' of the Earth's axis of rotation. Precession is a slow, swinging motion of the Earth's axis of rotation.

The Earth's axis is tilted, and the angle produced between the plane of the equator and the plane of the ecliptic is called the "obliquity of the ecliptic". The northern extremity of the axis points towards the Pole Star, or "Polaris" (so named for obvious reasons!) Thus, with the Earth's centre of 'spin' fixed on the Pole Star, Polaris appears to be fixed in space. This was not always so, and will not always be! Thousands of years ago Earth's axis pointed to various other stars, making them so-called 'Pole Stars'.

I said I would avoid complications by not getting involved and swamped in technical details, so I'll leave it at that and trust you will believe and understand when I say that :- due to precession, the Equinotical Points move backwards through the constellations each year by a mean velocity of 50" of arc, from east to west, which appears as the retrograde, or backward motion against the background of constellations.

About 2000 or so years ago this precessional movement of the equinoxes was discovered by "Hipparchus". In those days, the vernal (spring) equinox occured in Aries. At present it is finishing it's time in Pisces and entering Aquarius! Thus, "The Age of Aquarius".

The complete cycle of the equinotical points takes approximately 25,800 years (the Great Year). Thinking of these factors we find that around 3,000 B.C. "Draconis" was the so-called 'Pole Star' and the vernal equinox was in Taurus (The Age of Taurus) .

The present day "Pole Star" will once again be "Polaris" around the time 28,000 A.D.

A little about me first

Began life as a sceptic due to an innate scientific attitude to life. Lived for ideas like "Jules Vernes" vision of travelling to the center of the Earth, to the Moon, travelling in H.G. Wells' "Time Machine" -- and yet when you look at these fantasies, all are relatively possible within the realms of science. My life took on a new dimension however when I began to study Art, and Music. That other dimension was to be the 'Soul' , or Spirit, which I found was present in all life. The spiritual dimension of my life brought me deeper feelings, and moved me closer to all that surrounds me. I discovered that 'Life' was more than just a bunch of chemical reactions and electrical brain impulses. we are beings of 'Light' and 'Spirit'! fully interconnected with all other beings, ascending the strata of consciousness.

Astrology

To cut a long story short, I was awarded the diploma of the Mayo School of Astrology after passing the necessary exams which were the culminating point after almost 5 years of study within the school.Prior to that I had been a professional musician for quite a few years. I have also spent quite some time working with alcoholics and drug addicts. I suppose people would call it 'councilling' , but it is much more than that, far more spiritual and uses the force of unconditional love to empower the recovery.

I also studied psychology at college here in Jersey, but this had to be cut short due to the birth of my daughter: I knew from the past experience of others that children grow so quickly and are gone in the twinkling of an eye! If I wasn't careful I would miss the only chance I had of watching a sattelite of myself growing up! -- So many men I had spoken with over the years had told me of how they regretted spending so much time in the pub, or away from home while playing in some band, or whatever....as they had missed their children growing through the various stages of life, and it was not possible to turn the clock back now! --- I was not going to let it happen to me.
