Age Of Aries

(approx. 2,000 B.C.)

Aries is a Cardinal, Fire-sign, and so, it is only to be expected that in this Age a pioneering spirit should begin! with much energy, courage, war, exploration, conquest, marking itself on the times as would be expected of this age who's ruling planet was the God of War -- "Mars".

The 'Ram', animal of Aries, gave it's name to the original, wooden "Battering-Ram", and it's head was carved as the front-piece to these wooden 'rammers'.

The 'Lamb', as a burnt offering, was part of Jewish ritual, while the worship of the Golden Calf (Taurus) was forbidden!

The Gods changed their names in accordance with cosmic pressure, so that "Mithra", the Sun-God who had been the 'sacred bull' in Taurean times, now became the slayer of the bull!

"Ashur", Sun-God of the Assyrians, previously known as the "Great Bull," now became a Martian God of War!

The Greeks dressed "Pallas Athene" in the armour of a soldier with Ram's horns on her helmet, while the Roman soldier's wore the same emblems on their uniforms.
