Vernie Beatrice Crabb Bailey





Vernie Beatrice Crabb, was born Aug. 7, 1899 in Black Creek, Allegany co., New York. She was the fifth and youngest child of Alba George and Ella Olean (Clapp) Crabb. Vernie was about three years old when the family moved Boulder, Colorado. Growning up, she spent many summers with relativies in New Hudson and Cuba, New York.

Vernie attended Hardin College for Girls and Kansas University. Among her accomplishments, were two reigns as Miss Cross Plains. She played several musical instruments, including piano, organ, saxaphone and marimba.

Vernie married Richard Taylor Bailey in 1926. They had 3 children, Patricia, Melvin and Richard. Vernie died in Page, Arizona in 1990.

Vernie is a descendant of Spencer and Betsey (Ricker) Lyon, Abraham and Martha Ann (Alexander) Crabb, Agile and Julia Ann (Francisco) Clapp, and Abraham and Mary Ann (Harris) Searl, all of Allegany County, New York.
