Here are a few of the relics I have dug recently...

I have been hunting since the late '80s, only seriously a few years ago. I think it is an incredible feeling to find something that was last seen so long ago, whether a uniform button, a coin, or even an item from colonial times. Living here in Virginia, there are plenty of places to find historical artifacts. I relic hunt for the enjoyment of getting outdoors, the sense of history it brings me to my locale, and the excitement of finding stuff!

Here are some of the Civil War bullets I have found over the years... many types and used by both sides.

Ok, I hate when people litter. And on top of burning, pillaging, stealing, raping, and plundering, the d*** Yankees that were here in the 1860s LITTERED. I consider it my civic duty to pick up after them. Included in this fuzzy foto are a : 2nd Corps badge, a Michigan coat button, a Penn. National Guard cuff button, a 1-piece marine, a 2-piece marine, a revenue cutter cuff, a star cape pin, a New Hampshire cuff,a Rhoad Island cuff,a Conn. coat, a few NY buttons, several Eagle "I's, 1 1/2 crossed sabre cavalry hat badges, most of an infantry hunting horn hat badge, an Eagle "R" cuff, an Eagle "D" cuff, and a US belt plate (the only one I have ever dug), complete with "puppy dog paw" hooks. This is the cream of the crop of my Yankee stuff.
The Confederates around here musta' bent and picked up their butttons when they popped off, because they are real tight to find. I found about 2/3 of these, including the unlisted Va, staff cuff (which was beside my garage!). Most of these came from "Union" camps.....can't explain but is true.
