  The Volunteer Institute

In the United States alone each year, approximately 100,000 children are classified as "Throw-aways" by the United States Department of Justice.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services estimates that including "throw-aways", the number of homeless children is approximately 2,000,000.

Children with souls, hopes, dreams, and feelings like you and I are forced to exist on the streets. The streets are a frightening place for adults not to mention children.

On the streets children are forced to steal, live under bridges, abandoned buildings, live with child predators, get arrested for a place to sleep and food to eat, commit crimes, hitch rides to other cities as seasons change, do illegal drugs in order to "not feel" their pain, suffer abuse of the most horrible types, until finally their precious lives come to an abbreviated end.

There is something we can all do to help them. If we truly care enough about these children, teens, and young adults, we can and will do whatever we can to stop or at least ease their suffering.

If you would like to get involved, simply contact us here at the Volunteer Institute at P.O. Box 31, Rockwood, Tennessee, 37854-0031. Our phone number is (423) 354-3825.

We are an all volunteer organization which operates entirely on donations from people like you. Corporation do not donate as it serve no purpose for them to do so. They simply do not care. We have a large list of such companies who have made it clear that these kids are not regular consumers.

We never use funds for salaries. Our volunteers, including members of the Board of Trustees go into the streets where it is too dangerous for most of you to go. We all do this at our own expense for the most part. Funds we receive are used only for the care of the children.

We have future plans for a regional center which will be a home for these kids. This center will be a neighborhood for these kids. They will receive an education, job training, and a chance to succeed in life without being a burden on society.

We can and will accomplish this with your help. For $5.00 a month you can help us towards our goal and insure our mission a success. You can give one time, or as many times as you like. You can give as much or as little. We will never call you and ask for more, or send out junk mail fliers to crowd your mailbox. That would be very wasteful.

There are many ways you can help. If you can't donate money or other items, you can get involved in a letter writing campaign which we can tell you about if you are interested. It is very successful. It actually amounts to a petition. It is not directed to any political office holder. It is unique and helps us out a lot.

Remember these kids, they are suffering, lonely, and dying out there now as we speak. Contact us soon.

Respectfully submitted,
