WC Animation updates

    Hi everyone,

New animation added on our website. Check the technique section. http://www.geocities.com/wingchunschoolNYC/index.html

This is a technique we practice to learn, amongst other things, how to "flow" our attack and maintain pressure on our opponent. The attacker is under constant harrasment, while the defender attacks and defends simultaneously.

I am a student of all things linking the mind and body. I began to learn Kenpo Karate several years ago. I studied for 2 years but had to stop because my instructor took an innapropriate interest in me. I was fascinated by what I could accomplish being only a small female teenager, but I was not able to learn for long enough to feel as though I had done more than brush the surface of all a person might be capable of knowing. I have since studied the mind-body linking dogma of several different cultures; everything from Carl Yung to Carlos Casteneda to Catholicism to modern dance. I have found neither satisfaction nor frustration complete enough to attract me. Now I am in search of more. Is there a person or text I can study that may give me more insight? I live in a very isolated area, so I cannot train with anyone at this time. Thank you.

I'm wondering if there's any students here of SiFu Leung's Virginia Beach school approximately 1987-88 remember this 13-14 year old deaf kid named Tim Smith.. Used to go to the Wing Chun lessons at least twice a week when it used to be around Norfolk om Witchduck Rd.

Anyway, this is he, close to 15 years later! A big hello to Duncan Leung, who I still have very fond memories of and Steve, our regular instructor. Hello!

I am glad to see the lessons of SiFu Leung carrying on... I still practice what I learned 15 years ago. I briefly got a refresher course in Wing Chun during a short stay years later in 1995ish while in Minneapolis, but it is what SiFu Leung taught me that I still excerise.

    Warmest Regards,

Hi, I'm trying to find canvas punching bags. Does anyone know where I can order them online or from a catalog distributor? The only supplier here has to order them from Leung Ting and he's having trouble getting his orders filled.

    Dear Mr. Leung
I am 42 and have spent half my life training my mind. I have spent the last 5 years earning a living in front of a computer. As a result I am stiff, overweight (I look like Sammo Hung!) and have a penchant for junk food.

I now work for myself from my home in Ghent and have the time to devote to learning the martial arts, but I wonder that if at middle age I am still able to physically?

I have no doubt that I have the ability and discipline to learn, it is the physical aspect that I question.

Incidently, I am not ashamed to admit that I have read all 101 posts on this particular board and I must say it was an interesting read.

Being raised in a strict Japanese household taught me MUCH about respect and honor and humility....something just a few postee's lack.

My mother with her iron clamp ear pinch could straighten them out in a second.

If you (or even maybe one of your more knowledgable students)could give me an opinion on whether it was safe or even smart for a middle aged man to start learning the martial art.

Please be honest with me, as I will not be offended if it is the truth. If I am past my prime I will resign myself to the treadmill at the downtown YMCA.

    repectfully yours,

    Sifu Leung,
My father was train under Master Hidetaka Nishiyama in Shotokan in the late early 60s. So the only martial Arts i was brought up knowing is Jappeness. There was always a line between Kung fu and Karate, and to whom they want to teach there style too. My concern is that i want to learn Wing Chun, But being in the military, I''m getting station in Yokosuka Japan. I'm wondering if you have any information on any Wing Chun schools in that area?

    Mr. Leung,
It seems kind of strange that ISP 206.246.194.59 correlates to Bill Marr, David Neal, Grant, and Bobby N. With previous inquires about Sifu Meadows and recent inquires about T. Massengil/J. Musse, it seems evident that a person(s) who has known you, Meadows, Massengil, and Musse for some time, is stirring the pot for some unknown reason, to cause false discention between you two. Since there has been no response from Mr. Meadows/Massengil/Musse, the ISP above is pressing your truthfullness in your replys concerning anyone who is a disciple/former student of you. Wonder why?

With all due respect,I think Sifu Leung's recolection is a little lacking on this subject.
I trained with Sifu Leung with the Newport News group which consisted of myself, Tony Massengill, Glen Moore, Larry Jones and a guy named Keith, who's last name I do not recall. We all began training at the upstairs school on S. Great Neck Road in September of 1979. Our group was traveling from Newport News to Va. Beach 3 - 4 Nights per week.I trained until about May of 1980, when the travel became too much for me, and my work schedule began to conflict with the training. Tony, Glen and Larry continued their training until early 1982, when a Hampton, VA. Wing Chun school was opened on Mercury Blvd. This school was taught primarily by Tony Massengill and ocasionally by Glen Moore. I resumed training in Wing Chun at this time. The school was connected with Sifu Leung's Wing Chun school, and our Hampton Group trained in Hampton, 3 days per week, and met at the school and car-pooled to the Va. Beach school, which had moved to Holland Plazza, the other 2 nights to train with Sifu Leung. This was approx. 3 years after Tony Massengill had begun training with Sifu Leung. Massengill continued his training under Sifu Leung until Sept. 1982, when he joined the Newport News Police Dept. At this point due to his work schedule his training became inconsistant. So I personally can attest to Tony Massengill being under Sifu Leung for at least 3 years.
