Woman of Faith

Picture of me (Victoria Marie,OSF) These pages contain personal reflections, information about events of interest to women of faith with an ecumenical outlook, as well as, justice and peace advocacy and action information.

A little bit about myself, I am a graduate of Simon Fraser University (BA, MA), and the Vancouver School of Theology (MPS = Master of Pastoral Studies). I obtained a certificate from the Pacific Jubilee Program in Spiritual Direction in October 1997. On June 9, 1997 I began my journey in formation as a Franciscan Sister of Joy and professed my perpetual vows on August 10, 2000. My work experiences has included as the pastoral/parish assistant for three innercity parishes in Vancouver, with responsibilities of coordinating Adult Religious Education; RCIA; and, spiritual direction.

I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Educational Studies Department of the University of British Columbia (see academic cv).  The role of spirituality in recovery from addiction is my research and dissertation topic.

I currently work as a member of the DTES Community Development Project Evaluation team and the primary evaluator on the DTES Community Play Evaluation Project.  My secular work experience includes archival, documentary and historical research with the Department of Indian Affairs, participant observation research in Kenya and participatory research in an inner city section of Brooklyn, New York.  Some of my other research projects  interests are resilience, creativity, and spirituality within and among disadvantaged groups.

I live in the Vancouver Catholic Worker Community, Samaritan House.  My ultimate aim in life is to live from the gospel to life and from life to the gospel by being able to see that spark of the Divinity in everyone and respond to everyone and all my relations (all of creation) as containing that Spark-- with love.

These pages will be under construction much of the time as new information is received and added. Click on Table of Contents now to see what's here. Events will be updated and I hope to include more advocacy and action information in the future.

Love and Blessings, Enjoy,
Sr. Victoria Marie, osf
