Traveler's    Journal

This is a fanfic written by me. It is in journal format. It is the journal of Ragnar, a treasure hunter, who came to Hyrule in search of the legendary triforce. The rest is pretty self-explanitory. Enjoy!

Day 1

X month, X date, X year.

Well, I finally made it to Hyrule. I got here just today and I'm keeping this journal to document my travels in this legendary land. I came to Hyrule in search of the legendary Golden Power, the Triforce. You see, I am a treasure hunter, and I had heard many legends about the bountiful riches of this land. I've heard tales that there are rubies and diamonds galore! I've heard rumors that you can find jewels under normal bushes!! I couln't resist the temptation to look for this legendary land. Some thought it didn't exist. I believed it through and through. I believe I'm the first outsider ever to enter this magic land. THAT's why I'm keeping this journal. I will surely receive many gold coins for it!! I'll explain my past.

Like I said before, I'm a treasure hunter. I hail from the land of Terras. I was in the middle of my last search in Zeras, for the Nova Sword, when I heard rumors about Hyrule. I was skeptical at first, but the more I heard, the more I believed. I tried to convince my traveling compainion, Cyrus, to come with me. He would not believe, yet he did come. We then took our horses and departed to the east to find this magical land. After 2 years of searching, Cyrus gave up. He said it was hopeless and that those rumors were just that, rumors. He decided to stay in the city of Rassin. I still believed. As much as I hated to, I bid him farewell, and began to search on my own. After 3 more years of searching in vain, was ready to give up. I turned my horse around, I was ready to go back to Rassin and tell Cyrus he was right. Then I noticed a large mountain to the west. Something inside me told me that it was the legendary Death Mountain, that towers above the kingdom of Hyrule. I went toward it with all the speed my steed could muster. I finally passed into this land. I'm setting up camp near the boarder. I don't want to be noticed until I'm ready to interact with people and I sharpen my sword. (I haven used It in over 3 years) I have my tent set up, and I'm in it right now. I'm gonna stop writing today, and unpack my stuff. Tomarrow I will explore the area around my camp.

X month, X day, X year

Well, my tent is up and my stuff is unpacked, I think I might venture out later. Its getting late, so I'll go to sleep soon, maybe I'll look around in the morning. Ive heard stories that monsters also roam this land. That is silly. This land is so beutiful, it is hard to believe that anything evil could possibly exist. I'll write a letter to Cyrus and tell him to come. I hope they have messengers around here. Oh well, I'm tired. I will not worry about monsters. My dreams will be of treasure this night!

Day 2

X month, X day, X year

I went out today, only to be confronted by two soldiers. I was releaved that humans were in this land, so I decided to ask them some questions. As soon as thay saw me, they drew their swords and charged. I was caught off guard by this attack, and one of their swords connected, to my suprise, I did not bleed! Yet I could still feel the pain. Bewildered by this strangeness, I drew my sword, and slashed frantically. They were very good at perrying my attacks. I had to use strategy to defeat them. I got on the side of one, and poked him between the plates on his armor on his side. He flew back, and exploded in an evil flame, leaving nothing behind. I didn't pay too much attention to this, because the second soldier was charging again. I blocked his attack with my sword, (I hadnt brought my shield from the tent) then while he was recoiling from my block, I trust. My trust blade penetrated all the way through. Again, this soldier exploded in flame. This was very odd. When the fire subsided, a small heart-shaped object fell to the ground. I thought it might be currency, so I picked it up. As soon as it touched my fingers, it disappeared. The pain from the blow I had sustained before disapppeared. This amazes me. I wonder why the first soldier didn't have one. The soldiers are NOT human. I wonder if anyone in this land is. I think THEY might be the monsters. This gives me much to consider tonight. I will not go out too far tomarrow. When I do go out, I will take more weopons with me. This incident has made me learn to expect anything. Who knows what secrets this land holds. Well, these questions will have to wait for another day.

X month, X day, X year,

I'm up right now, working on preparing my weapons. I was trying to sleep when a voice filled my head. A faint, distant voice of a woman. She seems so urgent, but, I can't make out the words. Maybe its just the wind, but this is very unsettleing ot me. In this land of magic, I'll believe anything. I don't know, maybe I'm just still shaken up from the soldiers attacking me this morning. Thats all I want to write tonight. I'm tired. I think I'll try to sleep as soon as I finish on my shield.

Day 3

X month, X day, X year

I finally got some sleep last night. The sounds in my mind stopped. I'm glad. That was very strange. Still, I guess it was nothing. I think I won't go out today. I'm tired from my long journey and my battle yesterday. I think I'll just rest today.

X month, X day, X year

Ahhhhh! Thats just what I needed. I feel a lot better now. Maybe I will explore a little today after all. I hope I don't run into any more of those soldier-monsters. I don't understand a lot about this world, but I don't want to take too many chances.

X month, X day, X year

I just came back to the tent. I saw more soldiers. Obviously, these soldiers came here to replace the ones I killed yesterday. I did not engage. I hope they don't track me down. If this is an all-soldier commmunity, they will have nothing better to do then find me. I'd better be careful. I did get to see a little more of the area though. I saw some strange land- octopi. They spit rocks. Very odd. I have seen no other life. The legends were not like this. This land wasn't a military land. It was ruled with wisdom, not tyranny! I guess I can't jump to too many conclusions until I explore more. Maybe I'll look for a village tomarrow. I think I saw a red tree, but maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. Oh well, I gotta get some sleep if I'm gonna do so much exploring tomarrow.

Day 4

X month, X day, X year

Well, I'm writing a little before I go out there again. I hope I find...... well....... I'm sorta looking for some sign of the great civilization I've heard of in the legend. I don't really care what I find, as long as its interesting, or something I can sell. I think I'll go now. Its morning, and I plan to venture far away from the camp. I gotta get back here before dark. I don't know what this land is like in the light, I dare not face it in twilight!

X month, X day, X year

I am very tired. I walked far this day. I searched all day only to find nothing. This is a deserted land. Except for the soldiers. I am certain that this is Hyrule, I can feel the magic flowing in the air. I made some observations though. Some of the soldiers are clad in green armor, while others have blue. I suppose this is a kind of ranking system. I've seen soldiers with bows, and soldiers hiding in the grass. I think some saw me too, but they didn't engage. This leads me to believe that I may not be the only thing that they battle. They don't talk to each other, all they do is patrol. I'm now sure that they are NOT human. I'm certain that they are not the only beings here. I'd move my camp, but I think its safest at the boarder. Not many soldiers are around there. I want to move farther away from the boarder. Maybe if I can find a cave or something. I could stay there, as a temporary shelter. This way, I could greatly expand the range in which I can explore everyday. I'll look around late tomarrow. I'll spend most of the day resting. I'm also worried about my food supply. I only have enough for 3 more days. I haven't seen anything edible around here. This could present a problem. I'll look for fruit or something. Those octopi don't look to edible. Oh well, I'm to tired to write anymore.

--Ragnar

Day 5

X day, X month, X year

I've been resting all day, but now I think I'll look for that cave. I'm gonna fight some of those soldiers if I can, for practice. I haven't seen much treasure around at all! Oh well, I guess I'll look around for that too. I don't want to waste anymore time writing, I gotta get going!!
