Heartbeat

I look into your eyes at night,
Like heavenly stars they twinkle forth,
Guiding my heart and hands and mind
To the joyous comfort of your soul.

I feel your heart beating deep,
When we join as one in single grace,
A beacon pounding forever forth
To sound my soul in the darkest night.

Our flesh flames up as never before,
While our purpose soon crashes forth,
And on that wave of unearthly joy
We follow each other into the bliss.

We shudder, shake, and tremble
Then, so still we lie as if 'twere dead,
Until I say your name, so loud,
And perforce we do begin again.
