Owl Flight

One silent, dark and lonely night
I heard the owl call my name;
An eerie, eldritch call it was
That spoke onto my soul.

"Take flight!", said the owl
As my name echoed forth;
"I'm the wind beneath your wings
To speed you on your way."

So spread I did my glorious wings,
And with silent flight
I sped not knowing where,
Deep into the darkened night.

Then I heard the owl call another;
An eerie, eldritch call it was
That spoke onto my soul,
For the owl had spoke YOUR name.

On silent wings I was forced to pause
And ponder on this eerie call;
I did not know this honored name
That rang across the sky.

Then with sudden thrumming of unearthly wings,
You joined me on my flight;
And side by side we continued on,
The wind beneath our wings.

Again I heard the owl's piercing cry;
An eerie, eldritch call it was
That spoke onto my soul,
For the owl had spoke OUR names.

Joined they were for the very first time,
The sibilants softly intertwined,
Until our names were merged as one
To light-up the raven black sky.

Then with the bright blues of the morning hues,
As the sun rose out of the east,
The owl spoke our name one final time
And sped silently on its way.
