Fanfic by Kai-Yan Lam Part 7 ---------------------------- "Come on bo, come here bo." Lola, singing a bit, humming a bit to herself as her computer tracked down the tracking device. Suddenly, she groaned. "Huh? What's the matter?" Karasu asked, looking around at the crows in the same park as yesterday. "Nothing. There's a hotdog stand over there. I'm going to get lunch," she replied. "That's pretty early," he muttered. "Not when I will have to get the chain and the bo back. Come on, you didn't have any dinner last night. I'll be back in a sec." she beamed and dashed off. Karasu, left by himself, started looking at all the equipment sprawled everywhere. He studied the screen very closely. Their weapons were inside a showcase kind of thing. The walls were black, everything was dark, except for the spotlight on the case where the weapons were. Could this be maximum security Reikai? Hearing footsteps, he looked up to see Lola, carrying a few million hotdogs. "Try one." she said cheerfully, handing one to him. Karasu looked at it with great doubt and took one small bite...it didn't taste too bad or so he thought.... "Manners manners manners. Why so polite? Watch." Lola grinned and demonstrated how to put the whole hotdog into her mouth and swallowed it withing five seconds. "They taste good, but don't fill you up unless you have heaps. *pops another one into her mouth again* "I'll be going back into Reikai to get my bo back, as well as the chain. Damn, I wonder when they took it away. I wonder WHO took it away." "You know the kid with the pacifier? The one that trapped you in the energy force field? Well, he's the co-ruler of Reikai." Karasu muttered, still nibbling suspiciously rather than actually biting into his hotdog. "That little thing? You've got to be kidding." Lola replied. They continued eating for another few minutes, vaguely looking at the big trees in the park. "Lola, don't you think that you're 'different' than other humans?" Karasu asked, looking at Lola. "No, I don't think I am. What aspects?" Lola asked. Karasu shruged a bit, and thought for a moment. "Your power for example?" he questioned her as he gazed into her blue eyes. "Hey, look at Kuwabara. He's got this sword that can cut through any dimension. He's not different than anyone else." she gulped as she saw those hard penetrating violet eyes, wanting somehow to avoid their gaze at her. "Different is when the rest of the world can't do what you can do. Tell me that if I pick up the next person that walks along who can cause Tokyo to fall down with a tantrum." he spoke in a matter of fact tone. Lola started to whine again. "Well, I don't know. What's the big deal anyway?" she whined. "Did it ever occur to you that you might not even be a human?" he questioned her again. "Can't prove that I'm not a youkai though," she answered and this time, Karasu shrugged, and continued to eat, this time he is actually biting instead of nibbling. A few moments later, all the food was finished. "Ok, I'll probably show up in the evening or something, hopefully earlier. Don't want to stay in that place for too long. What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Lola nearly stammered as she completed her sentence, her mind half admiring and half fearing those penetrating violent eyes. "I'm coming with you." was all he said. "You really want to?" there was disbelief in her voice as he spoke. "Why not? I can try to help, but then, you could probably destroy the building if you chuck another tantrum like today," he chuckled softly to her. Lola didn't hear the last part, and affectionately hugged Karasu, much to his fear and surprise. "I'll show you a quick and easy way to get there." Lola, beaming like her usual self again. Kurama will be knocked out soon, she thought, almost confidently. They came to a clearing and Lola finally stopped. Taking a deep breath, she blew out hard to the left side of the clearing. A dimension gate started to show up. The scene twisted and warped, and there was the tunnel leading directly to Reikai. "What are we waiting for? Let's go! Just follow me!" she smiled and jumped into the warp dimension. Karasu took a deep breath and followed. "So this is what Reikai looks like?" Karasu mumbled to himself as he quitely followed Lola down a long dark corridor. "Shhh. Ok. We stop here. You see those camera's over there?" she pointed as Karasu peered hard into the darkness. He nodded. "At a certain time, all the camera's will be turned away from each other. That's when we dash across and turn left into the corner over there. There are no camera's there, just a whole bunch of infra red lasers. Hang on, wait.... now!" she hissed, and both of them dashed off and sharply swerved into another corridor on the left. "Touch any of the lasers, and the whole alarm system will go off." "Where? I can't see it." Karasu asked. "Time for all the junk in Lola's backpack." Lola hummed as she fumbled inside her bag. "Every time I look inside your bag, there's always something different." Karasu commented. Lola looked up and simply smiled. "Put these on." Lola handed him a pair of dark glasses. Red lines immediately appeared when he put them on. With this advantage, they easily made it through the corridor, and then on to a large platform. "What on Makai....?" Karasu, stared down at the edge. Their weapons were on the other side. He could just jump over and get them... "The weapons are up there." Lola pointed upwards. Karasu looked up, his glasses were now off. The chain and bo were in the showcase, but they were suspended right in the center of the abyss. "This abyss isn't an abyss. It's a dead end. You may see the other side of the room, but really, this is the edge. So if you tried to jump across, well, there really isn't anything across. Do not underestimate how much work it is to get up there. There's a laser network, more of those stupid infra red lasers, and there is also a correct combination of steps to get up to the top. The 'steps' are more or less floating platforms that will change its colours now and then" Lola explained in detail. "How do you need my help." Karasu asked. "Well, this will be a whole lot easier if you could keep watch. Last time, I had to keep an eye for the corridor and all that, and nearly lost my balance..." "No need to explain. I want the chain. You want your bo. I'll be right back." and he created another handful of round disks, except each one had an eye instead of a timer. Karasu went outside, passed the infra red rays, and stuck the little watchers on the walls. They camaflouged nicely for the walls were black, and the place was dark. He put the rest right after the infra red section. He would get a mental warning if there was movement. "The camera's are about to face away from each other. I get 1.5 secs to get up with the correct colour combination. Watch very carefully, cause you'll have to do it too." Lola instructed and while waiting for the camera's to rotate away, Lola explained the combinations. Then, Lola took off, racing against the 1.5 seconds. 0.4 seconds, half way up. 0.75 seconds, she dodged all the lasers, 1.4 seconds, and the colours on the floating platform changed, but Lola was quicker and was dangling off the wire which suspended the two items. After what seemed like eternity to Karasu, Lola finally decoded another code on the showcase and took out the weapons. Climbing up the wire still, she pushed some buttons on the fake roof, and signalled for Karasu to jump up. He waited for the camera's again, and jumped. He also made it up just on time. The camera's didn't cover the roof they were on. It was obvious that this place wasn't exactly a room. The roof wasn't a roof, but more of another level's corridor. It too had an end. "It's almost over. The last bit is getting out. There is no way down. You get and follow the roof back into the offices of Reikai. However, there is one dimension that you can go through.." Lola said. "Hang on, how hard is it to hop back down?" Karasu asked, a bit dubious. "Very hard. The platform we are going to stand on folds up and then, on the next day stretches out for a certain amount of time again. That's when people go and check on the weapons. They see us up here and the items gone, we're in big trouble. We're going back to the human world through and 'illegal' dimension. I should warn you, the dimension's all mucked up. Sometimes, large vortexes on the ground appear and try to suck you in, other times, large bolts of lightning randomly strike at you." Lola went on as Karasu watched as the platform folded itself and put itself away. "How long is the dimension?" he asked. "It depends on our luck. Take off your mask, and take a deep breath. Ready? Go!" and Lola yet again blew hard and revealed another dimension, supposedly leading back to the human world. Karasu took a deep breath and plunged in. 8:00 pm "Hello Bui! We're back!" Lola welcomed herself back into Kuwabara's now renovating house and spied on Bui who is now attempting to play the Nintendo. "Where have you two been all day?" Yuusuke asked, drying a dish in his hands. Obviously they just had dinner. Lola drew out her bo and waved it in front of Yuusuke's face. "I put that back in Reikai last night." Koenma, half disgusted at what Reikai boasted as maximum security. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
