WELCOME TO MY CORNER. I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY HERE.

My full name is Uwakwe Ukuta Azikiwe. I am the last child and son of The Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria, and Dr (Mrs.) Uche Azikiwe, a professor at University of Nigeria Nsukka, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. I was born at Madam Esmai Maternity Home, Nsukka. I attended Pine Nursery School, University Primary School, Nsukka High School, and University Secondary School. After Class 5, I was accepted to Lincoln University to study Biology. I changed my Major at the end of my sophomore year to Criminal Justice because of my love for the law. My father had earlier advised me to get into the legal field because of something that he saw in me, but I did not listen to him.

In 1995, I graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Lincoln University is the official University of the Azikiwe family. My father graduated from Lincoln in 1930; my brother, Molokwu graduated in 1994; my niece, Nneka, graduated in 1993; and my other niece, Ndidi graduated in 1994. I hope that more Azikiwe's would follow in our footsteps. My study was interrupted in 1996, when I had to go home to Nigeria for my father’s burial. I received a Master of Arts degree in Legal and Ethical Studies from University of Baltimore in May 1999. I will be attending University of Baltimore School of Law from 1999-2002. I also plan to attend Law School in Nigeria.

I love reading books, especially those written by my father. I also love books that deal with legal issues, biographies, autobiographies, self-help techniques, or just funny stories. I love watching documentary shows like 60 Minutes, 20/20, Dateline and Nightline, in addition to funny shows like Sienfield, Martin, Home Improvement, Jamie Foxx Show, King of the Hill, The Simpsons, Three’s Company, etc. I also enjoy watching Jeopardy, Touched by an Angel, The Practice, New York Undercover, Matlock, and Judge Judy. Once it is an interesting show, it will get my attention. I love watching soccer (European Soccer), basketball (March Madness), American football (Go Redskins and Cardinals), Tennis (Wimbledon), and lately, Golf (because of the TIGER in me). For physical activities, I play soccer, basketball and tennis, in addition to the hours that I spend working-out at Bally’s Fitness Gym. I have a lot of friends because I try to be very friendly to everybody that I meet. Like my father always said, “my life has been a joy to me no matter where I go I’ve learned to live in harmony with kindly friend and foe.”

I love writing, and I have jotted down my views on various issues in the news, especially the impeachment process, the Iraqi situation, the state of Africa as a whole, the fleecing of Nigeria, the 1995 & 1998 ‘coups’ in Nigeria and their outcomes, politics in Nigeria, violation of human and civil rights all over the world, the American judicial system, and the death penalty. I wait anxiously for the time that I would get the opportunity to share my views with the world, by having some of my writings published in a newspaper or magazine. I hope to own a media house in future, and use it as a medium to educate Nigerian people about their rights, and what they deserve and should demand from their leaders, civilian or military. I am currently writing a book about my father, his death and the events surrounding his burial. My family experienced a lot during that period. I sat back, watched things unfold, and took notes of things that I experienced.

I love politics, but only God knows whether I would be deeply involved in Nigerian politics. Politics can be dirty, but I would get involved only if doing so would help make the lives of poor, under-privileged and disadvantaged Nigerians better. Once there is civil and human rights violation in Nigeria, the poor keeps getting poorer while the rich keeps getting richer, and corruption is rampant in Nigeria, then expect to feel my presence in Nigeria's political arena. My father's dream for Nigeria will come true one day, so there is hope for Nigeria. I believe that only the best is good enough for my Nigerian brothers and sisters. I ALSO BELIEVE IN A ONE NIGERIA
