SITUATION:You are the mayor of cityname city.
SOLUTION:You must write and present a detailed progress report on the growth of your city to the city commissioners.

CRITERIA:
- Play the SimCity simulation game for one period each
of the first four days of the City Planner TLA. The
game should only be played in the designated room at
the assigned time.
- Collect the appropriate data during the game
simulation. See the back of this page for further
details.
- Analyze the data using appropriate strategies and
concepts.
- Graph the analyzed data. Bar graphs, pie charts, and
line graphs should be used to display the data.
- Compose a progress report which includes the graphed
data.
- Transfer the graphs to overhead transparencies.
- Present your progress report utilizing the visual
aids.
Procedures:
- Upon entering the program, click on the Start New City icon
- Record you starting funds
- Click on the green money bag icon and then record the following:
- year of the report
- tax rate
- taxes collected
- cash flow
- previous funds
- current funds
- Click on the thumbs up/thumps down icon and then record the following:
- The "yes" percentage of citizens that think the mayor is doing a good job.
- The "no" percentage of citizens that think the mayor is doing a good job.
- Record the list of worst problems with their respective percent values.
- Record all of the statistical categories and their respective percent values.
- Begin building your city.
When the new fiscal budget appears on the screen, record the following data:
- taxes collected
- cash flow
- previous funds
- current funds
- At the end of the period:
- Click on the City Form map and click on each icon just to the left of the map. Record any problems or suggestions you might have for improving your city.
- Click on the thumbs up/thumbs down icon and record the following:
- The "yes" percentage of citizens that think the mayor is doing a good job.
- The "no" percentage of citizens that think the mayor is doing a good job.
- Record the list of worst problems with their respective percent values.
- Record all of the statistical categories and their respective percent values.

Criteria Checklist:
Write a formal progress report on your city.
- Summarize how the city was incorporated and what has been done to date. Start with your topic heading. State what you are writing about. Always indicate to whom the report is written(city commissioners) and by whom the report is written(the mayor). Also, add the date it was submitted. This may be done on a title page.
- Add details about your summary by listing specific tasks you, as mayor, have accomplished.
- Add problems that have been encountered so far (if any). If there have been none say so. Be honest in mentioning problems. They may be unavoidable and will explain future concerns (like delays).
- Add what you plan next. Give the audience something to look forward to.
- Add recommendations. Tell how you are going to accomplish what you plan for the future.
- Add graphics. Make sure your graphics are placed next to the written information that they illustrate.
- First draft must be editted by a group member.
- Second draft editted by Instructor.
- Submit a final draft.
- Make a formal presentation of your progress report.
