Corberrie

There are several variations of the origin of the name Corberrie...most of which are derived from the phonic sound of the word Corberrie in french.

One story goes that when the first families arrived at this location to settle the area a crow who was perched on a branch looked down and laughed...in french as the Acadians would say it "corbo rire"...corbo being a crow..and rire meaning laughing.

However in reality Corberrie received it’s name from Father Sigogne who had the first church built during the establishment of this village. It appears probable that Father Sigogne named the location after one of the "suburbs" known as "Corbery” which was located outside of his native village in France.

The village of Corberrie is located inland... and between it's beauty and history it's a small hidden paradise for those who enjoy peace and tranquility rarely found these days.

follow the sound of the brook as it calls your name...

let yourself drift into the past
as it speaks of those who once listened to her songs...

and look at the lone plum tree
as it stands silently amongst the apple trees...
a legacy of the person who planted it...
a diving buddy from long ago who is no longer with us...
