...Germaine Stehelin was born at Gisors in Normandy, France,
12 March 1879 and died at Ottawa, Ontario, 21 March 1971.

...At St. Bernard, Digby Co., Nova Scotia, 30 October 1900, Germaine married Captain Jacob Nevius Kay dit "Nevius", the son of Andrew and Annie Kay of Brooklyn, New York. Nevius had been born in St. John's Newfoundland.

The couple were married by Rev. Jeremiah J. Sullivan and the witnesses were Dr. John W. Sanborn and Therese Stehelin, Germaine's sister. Nevius is indicated as being 35 years of age, Germaine, 21 and being from New France, Digby Co., Nova Scotia.

"Tante Germaine" looking WAY OUT of character for her. Anyone who has ever met her will certainly comment on this photo of her and those who have already seen this photo of her...this was their first reaction. I have included it here for this reason as it appears it may well have been taken shortly after her return following one of the near disastrous voyages she did with her sea captain husband Navius. On two of these voyages they barely escaped with their lives. I will elaborate on these at a later date.
