The Sheriff's Office is asking ALL Abbeville County Citizens to get involved.
The current economic crisis has affected Abbeville County in many ways including the increase in the number of crimes being committed. Fortunately, we can do more about the crime rate, but we cannot do without help the help of our citizens. In 2005 to 2010, the number of calls for service from Abbeville County's Deputies increased 258% - from 7,400 to over 19,000 calls for the year. These call were handled by the same number of deputies as in 2005. The time has come when Law Enforcement must have the help of everyone concerned with preserving our way of life. A new program will be introduced very soon in all communities in Abbeville County, it's called S.T.A.C. (Standing Together Against Crime) and it mean exactly that - Law Enforcement and Citizens must stand together to rid ourselves of the crime activity which threatens our peaceful way of life.
S.T.A.C. will be far more than a social organization. It is a genuine, working endeavor that recognizes and calls on the expertise of citizens and their willingness to identify and report crime-related activity throughout the county. Though citizens must never place themselves in harm's way, watching for and reporting suspicious activity is a huge step toward stopping criminals all together.
If you and concerned about theft, drug activity or other crimes in Abbeville County, get involved. We need you!! Watch for more information related to S.T.A.C. and how you can be involved in introduction and coordination of this program in your community.
