LADDERS
#1. Planting guide.
Place a ladder flat on the soil and press down; repeat to make a series of parallel rows.
#2. Utensil holder.
Hang a section of ladder from the ceiling with ropes and suspend pots and pans from it.
#3. Trellis.
Use an old ladder (preferably one with rounded rungs) to support climbing vines. Stand two facing each other and span a third across the top to make an arbor.
#4. Scaffolding.
Place planks across the rungs of two ladders; adjust the height by using higher or lower rungs.
LEMON JUICE
#1. Fingernail treatment.
Soak fingertips for 5 minutes in 1 cup warm water and the juice of half a lemon. After pushing back the cuticles, rub lemon peel back and forth across the nail.
#2. Hair lightener.
Comb lemon juice evenly through hair, then let it dry in the sun; repeat once a day for at least a week.
#3. Bathroo cleanser.
Rub stained enamel fixtures with a cut lemon; for stubborn stains, use a paste of lemon juice and borax.
#4. Lettuce crispr.
Soak soggy lettuce in a bowl of cold water to which you've added the juice of half a lemon; refrigerate for 1 hour.
BR>#4. Blemish healer.
Dab a pimple with lemon juice several times a day.
#5. Pore cleanser.
Combine 1 qt. boiling water, the juice of 1/2 lemon, and 1 to 2 Tbsp. dried thyme or mint. Steam your face 12 inches above the mixture for 15 minutes, then rinse with very cold water.
#6. Sponge renewer.
To salvage a soured sponge, saturate it with lemon juice, then rinse it thoroughly.
#7. Apple preservative.
Keep sliced apples from turning brown by saturating them with lemon juice.
#8. Piano prettifer.
Rub a paste of 2 parts salt and 1 part lemon juice on piano keys; wipe off with a damp cloth then buff with a dry one.
#9. Air freshener.
If the odor of fish lingers long after you've cooked it, place a pierced lemon in a 300 degree oven for 15 minutes, leaving the oven door slightly open.
#10. Hand deoderizer.
Can't get rid of that onion or fishy smell on your hands? Sprinkle powdered mustard on them, then add enough lemon juice to make a paste; rub in well, then wash with soap and water.
