MY OLD FRIEND

Proverbs 18:24 "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a FRIEND that sticketh closer than a brother."

************

I met an old Friend the other day,
My will and distance caused the drift;
These things can happen…sad, but true,
My…it gave my heart a lift!

My Friend of yester-years,
So much in common then;
Caught up in my own life,
When did it happen…when?

So many things we have to share,
So much has passed us by;
Can we ever make it up,
The years…they seemed to fly.

Like treasures lost and found again,
Dear to me once more;
My Friend, the Pearl of great price…He,
The Pearl…a thing of awe.

I'll tell you all…You'll tell me all,
The years will disappear;
It won't take very long…before,
You'll remove all my fears.

I'll let my hair down…be myself,
We'll laugh and joke and kid;
We'll be as close…as close can be,
Just as we once did.

And, vowing in my heart-of-hearts,
I promise never more…depart;
Walk closely with You every day,
Another chance…a brand-new start!
