GOSPEL...GOOD NEWS!

Psalm 85:1 “For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. You showed favor to your land, O LORD; you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. Selah
3 You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger.
4 Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us.
5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
8 Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.”
(NIV)

Colossians 2:9 “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
11 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.
15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
(NIV)

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
18 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
(NIV)

************

Did you know the angry God,
Who was angry…because of sin?
The One who was full of wrath,
Whose patience had been worn thin?

Yes, mankind had gone its merry way,
From the time of Adam’s fall;
Doing whatever we did please,
Seeking God’s face…hardly at all.

Oh, there were times…very few,
When we tried to please our Maker;
But, our flesh…was so very weak,
And, we succumbed to our accuser.

Trying to keep the law,
We found…we couldn’t do it;
Our very best…didn’t pass the test,
And, we had to admit it.

One step forward…two steps back,
We gave it all we had;
We could not subdue the flesh,
But, of this…we should be glad.

You see…the law was our schoolmaster,
It showed us of our need;
We could never be righteous,
If God did not intercede.

Thank God…He had a plan,
For He knew what we would do;
He promised to provide a Lamb,
And, that’s exactly what He did do.

Christ Jesus came…as a babe,
Just as us…tempted was He;
But, sin…He did not,
Unlike Adam…obedient He would be.

He fulfilled the law,
Yes, every single one;
Always doing His Father’s will,
He was a faithful Son.

The Lamb of God was sacrificed,
As atonement for sin;
That sacrifice was accepted,
When…from the dead…God raised Him.

Sin had been dealt a lethal blow,
Its power…forever broken;
And, it all came to pass,
Just as God had spoken.

Obedient…even to the Cross,
Though angels could have saved Him;
Laws and ordinances were nailed there…too,
And, for this…we do thank Him!

This is the GOSPEL…GOOD NEWS!,
“For God so loved the world…”;
Our sin has been forgiven,
Because…His love has been unfurled.

God is no longer angry,
He loves…now…you see;
In the fullness of His time,
He’s made Provision for you and me.

And, can we claim anything,
Anything that we have done?
Did we…somehow earn His blessing,
By the race that we had run?

Self-righteousness didn’t do it,
For there is only One righteous…you see;
Christ Jesus became our righteousness,
Yes, He did…for you and for me.

Thank You…Jesus…for your faithfulness,
This New Covenant…You ushered in;
The GOSPEL…GOOD NEWS!,
We’re no longer bound by sin!
