As a little child…He leads me,
My hand, in His…He guides me;
Child-like faith…all that's required,
Nothing else…nothing besides.

Sometimes, in this grown-up world,
We wrest our hand from His;
"I'd rather do it by myself!",
Our quip and harsh…reply.

So, on our own…we shall be,
We'll try to work it out;
But, sooner…not later,
We'll need Him…no doubt.

And, will He be there for us,
When so quickly we've turned away?
In a heart-beat…He is with us,
Even though it's we…who went astray.

He never says, "I told you so!",
With out-stretched hand…He beckons;
But, first…we must reach out,
For we are led…not driven.

Oh, such calm assurance,
To know that He's always there;
Even though…from time to time we wander,
Just to know…He always cares.

Take advantage of His Love,
Yes, sometimes we do;
Still, there He is…Gentle JESUS,
To His promises…always true.

In this grown-up world,
Climbing to the top of the heap;
It's good…always to remember,
He's for us…His promises, He keeps.

So, let's be as little children,
Allowing Him to lead;
Daily…hand-in-hand with JESUS,
By this world...be not deceived.

With our hand in His,
He'll bring us from the valley far below;
Up…into the high places,
Far above worldly care and woe.

What a Friend we have…in JESUS,
For, He loves us so;
Let's…in turn...give Him our love,
Single-minded…not tossed to and fro.

Singleness…in mind and purpose,
Walking with Him…daily;
Sons of God…are we,
Hand in His…now steady!
