HEAVEN

Ps. 73:25 "Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever."

************

Have you ever thought of Heaven,
And what we'll be doing…over there;
Sitting on fluffy clouds,
Playing on golden harps…not a single care?

Not my idea of Heaven,
And, I've given it much thought;
Our fleshly minds…carnal thinking,
Earthly good, but Heavenly…not.

Do you suppose we'll squabble,
Over our "pet" doctrines;
Or shoot angry words at each other,
Over what is or is not..sin?

Not my idea of Heaven,
Sounds more like a battle zone;
Give it some thought…now,
Is that where you want to call Home?

We're going to be there forever,
It's called Eternity;
Fashion in your mind…now,
Is that the place you'd want to be?

Why are we going there,
So unworthy are we;
It's because our Father loves us,
And, made Provision for you and me.

Will we take time to praise Him,
For all He's said and done;
Or shall we be in the heat of battle,
From His agenda…run?

Oftimes, I've pondered on,
The three heavens Paul speaks of;
Are they separate places,
For those limited…in love?

Do we get to pick and choose,
The one in which we fit;
Where we would be most comfortable,
Sounds silly…but think on it.

Or are the three…levels,
Where some are closer to God;
Did we…somehow earn,
A place closer to our LORD?

Would we prefer our brother,
Say, "No, you take my place.";
Or would we…in the heat of battle,
His name from the Book of Life…erase?

Doesn't sound much like Heaven,
A place where I'd like to be;
Free from earthly cares,
That's the place for me.

I think that when we get there,
His face we'll want to see;
The One who took our place,
For our sin…hung upon that tree.

Why can't we begin right now,
To practise on each other;
All that we shall do later,
Over there…my sister and my brother.

If JESUS came today,
Be it "pre", "mid" or "post";
Would we still squabble on and on,
Argue over who loves Him the most?

Let's practise the love,
He's shed abroad…in our heart;
Let's get ready for Eternity,
Today…let us start.

When that great day comes,
And, the dead in Christ arise;
Let's be ready for it,
Let it come as no great surprise.

For we have been practising,
On each one…on one another;
So filled to overflowing with His Love,
We're now ready to meet our Father.
