************
I've often wondered,
For years and years;
Just why it is we hang on,
To those who would…just slip away.
Beseiged with illness,
Their bodies wracked with pain;
Nature's way of shutting down,
Why not let them…just slip away?
Bodies hooked-up to wires,
Tubes running everywhere;
Machines prolonging all the pain,
When, even natures cries, let them…just slip away.
They want to travel on,
Far better life…beyond;
It's us who cannot part with them,
Real love would allow them to…just slip away.
Morbid this may sound,
But, to a Christian…not;
Do we truly believe in what we preach,
If so, let them…just slip away.
Sometimes our loved-one lingers on,
We'll not let them go;
More pain and suffering…their lot,
True love, allowing them to…just slip away.
Why would we hold them back from GLORY,
Because we'd miss them so?
Let's hold their hand…comfort give,
And, let them…just slip away.
