So deep is the darkness around me,
Reach out for a wall about me,

I can see naught on either side;
I stumble, stagger, and fumble,
I'd fall…were it not for my pride.
Try to focus on that tiny dot;
The smallest of Light before me,
I must head toward it…or be lost.
Try as I may…still stumbling,
My feet heavy as a rock;
I wish for someone to lead me,
Still, no one…there's only this block.
This block of darkness before me,
Struggle and try as I may;
I look toward that small Light before me,
To guide me on my way.
Still, complete darkness on all sides,
But, hope growing…as I walk on;
The Light becomes larger out there,
Larger…me, it has drawn.
I head for that Light…my pathway more sure,
My feet stumble less, as I go;
My eyes are securely fastened,
On that Light…it is my goal.
